All the Senate Retrumplicans who have sold their souls to Donald Trump refuse to acknowledge that he incited a riot. Twitter CFO Ned Segal knows very well that Trump incited a riot – and Trump is now permanently banned from Twitter.

Twitter says Trump is banned forever – even if he runs for President again

Democratic impeachment managers today concluded their case against Donald Trump. Beginning tomorrow, Trump's sleazy lawyers will attempt to defend the indefensible. By his many months of false claims of voter fraud and a stolen election and his urging his blindly loyal supporters to march to the Capitol and "fight like hell or we won't have a country anymore," Trump incited a riot that left five people dead. But it really doesn't matter what evidence Democrats presented and it really doesn't matter what Trump's lawyers say. Before this trial even started, Senate Retrumplicans were planning to acquit Trump. Nothing they see or hear during the trial will change their minds. They have sold their souls to Donald Trump.

Senate Retrumplicans don't care about the Constitution, the rule of law or the Presidential oath of office, so it is not surprising they have no ethics when it comes to an impeachment trial. They are expected to be impartial jurors – but they're collaborating with Trump's lawyers.

Donald Trump incited an insurrection. Senate Retrumplicans know that – but they will vote for acquittal. They are scared of Trump. They know that if they vote to convict him they will incur his vengeance and he will not support them when they run for re-election. Senate Retrumplicans place Donald Trump and their party above the Constitution, above the rule of law, above the Presidential oath of office and above our democracy. Voters will remember this in 2022 and 2024.

Justice Department says an Oath Keepers leader waited for Trump's direction before Capitol attack
    CNN, Feb 11 2021 1:42 PM ET

The Justice Department is now making clear that a leader among the Oath Keepers paramilitary group – who planned and led others in the US Capitol siege to attempt to stop the Biden presidency – believed she was responding to the call from then-President Donald Trump himself. "As the inauguration grew nearer, Jessica Watkins indicated that she was awaiting direction from President Trump," prosecutors wrote in a filing Thursday morning. This is the most direct language yet from federal prosecutors linking Trump's requests for support in Washington DC to the most militant aspects of the insurrection. At least four defendants this week have argued in court they followed Trump's direction to go to the Capitol building on January 6.

Rather than address how Trump incited an insurrection that left five people dead, Trump's sleazy lawyers are accusing Democrats of "hate" and "hypocrisy." Senate Retrumplicans will of course vote for acquittal. They have sold their souls to Donald Trump. Democrats are considering a resolution to censure Trump. "Censure" is another way of saying "a slap on the wrist" – and Trump gets off scot-free. Again.

We now know the details of the telephone call made by House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy to President Trump as the insurrection at the Capitol was taking place. Trump claimed the rioters were antifa. McCarthy told him, "They are not antifa. These are your people." Trump responded, "I guess these people are more upset about the election than you are." He had no intention of calling off the rioters. Ohio Representative Anthony Gonzalez, a Republican, told CNN, "I think it speaks to the former President's mindset. He was not sorry to see his unyielding loyal Vice President or the Congress under attack by the mob he inspired. In fact, it seems he was happy about or it or at the least enjoyed the scenes that were horrifying to most Americans across the country."

Trump has been acquitted. We all knew he would be. Vote was 57 guilty, 43 not guilty. Seven Republicans voted to convict. There should have been more.

Mitch McConnell just spent several minutes detailing Trump's lies about voter fraud and a "stolen" election and describing the horrors of the riot, including "broken glass and bleeding officers." McConnell said Trump "behaved disgracefully," committed a "dereliction of duty" and was "morally responsible" for the riot. McConnell explained his vote for acquittal by pointing out that Article II of the Constitution allows for impeachment of a "President, Vice President or civil officers" – and Trump is no longer President but is a private citizen. He neglected to point out that Trump was impeached while he was still in office. Doy!

McConnell added, "Trump is still liable for everything he did while in office. He didn't get away with anything. Yet. Yet. We have a criminal justice system in this country. We have civil litigation. Former Presidents are not immune from being held accountable by either one." Let's see what happens.

The Republicans who voted to convict are Richard Burr, Bill Cassidy, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Mitt Romney, Ben Sasse and Pat Toomey. They are to be commended for voting to hold Trump responsible.

Bill Cassidy just issued this statement: "Our Constitution and our country is more important than any one person. I voted to convict President Trump because he is guilty."

Mitch McConnell today detailed all of Trump's lies about voter fraud and a stolen election and said the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol was "foreseeable." Then why did he not say anything during the past two months? Why did he keep silent? Why did he not call out Trump for all the lies? Why did he refuse to admit Biden won the election? What a hypocrite! If Trump ever faces a criminal trial for inciting an insurrection, McConnell should be charged with aiding and abetting.
