Six Retrumplican-led states are suing to prevent Biden's student loan forgiveness plan from taking effect. Retrumplicans love to give huge tax cuts to banks, big corporations and the wealthiest Americans (who respond by making big cash contributions to the Retrumplican party) but they don't care about offering any financial assistance to those who really need it.

Not surprisingly, this conservative federal judge was nominated by Donald Trump. Not surprisingly, he sided with a conservative advocacy group founded by a major Trump donor.

Retrumplicans now hold a majority in the House of Representatives. What was their first order of business? Dealing with Immigration? Inflation? Unemployment? Drug abuse? Gun violence? No, their first order of business was to vote to repeal $80 billion in funding – approved in 2022 – that would have allowed the IRS to hire 87,000 more agents and go after wealthy Americans who cheat on their taxes. These are the same Retrumplicans who in 2017 passed legislation giving huge tax cuts to banks, corporations and the wealthiest Americans. The IRS defunding is unlikely to pass the Democratic-controlled Senate.

In 2017, Congressional Retrumplicans passed Donald Trump's Tax Cuts & Jobs Act, which Trump declared would be like "rocket fuel" to boost the economy. Of course Trump lied. Most of the benefits went to banks, big corporations and the wealthiest Americans. That includes a reduction in the corporate income tax rate from 35% to 21%. Corporations applied their tax savings to stock buybacks rather than capital investments and the creation of new jobs. The Congressional Budget Office estimated the Retrumplican tax cuts would add $1.9 trillion to the national debt over a ten-year period. Biden's assessment of the Retrumplicans is justified and accurate.

Biden knocks ‘fiscally demented’ Republicans in MLK Day speech
The Hill, Jan 16 2023 1:59 PM ET

President Biden today called Republicans "fiscally demented" and knocked GOP priorities during the keynote speech at the National Action Network’s annual breakfast to mark Martin Luther King Jr. Day. "They’re gonna talk about big-spending Democrats again. Guess what? I reduced the deficit last year $350 billion. This year, federal deficit is down $1 trillion-plus. That’s a fact. And there’s gonna be hundreds of billions reduced over the next decade. But so what? These guys are the fiscally demented, I think. They don’t quite get it," Biden said of Republicans, prompting laughter from the crowd.

Biden also knocked a House proposal to implement a national sales tax– and vowed to veto the legislation if it gets through Congress.

In July 2019, then-President Donald Trump asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to dig up dirt on Joe Biden and Hunter Biden. Trump was soliciting assistance from a foreign country to help him win the upcoming Presidential election. Four years later, Retrumplicans are still trying to dig up dirt on the Bidens. How sad. And how pathetic.

According to the Federal Reserve, Americans owe a total of $1.78 trillion in student loan debt. That is more than people owe on any other type of debt except for mortgages.

Biden administration to wipe out $39 billion in student loans
The Wall Street Journal, Jul 14 2023

More than 800,000 older borrowers will see their federal student debt disappear. Student loan borrowers on income-driven repayment plans who have made 20 or 25 years of payments will get their remaining balances wiped out in coming weeks, the Education Department said today. A total of $39 billion will be forgiven as part of a one-time adjustment to loan repayment plans the Biden administration announced last year. Separate from the higher-profile $430 billion program the Supreme Court struck down in late June, this one-time adjustment will give borrowers credit retroactively for months that previously hadn’t been counted.

Mining interests are critical of Biden establishing a national monument where new mining claims will not be allowed – but the site contains only 1.3% of our nation's known uranium reserves.

Newest national monument will block uranium mining near the Grand Canyon
President Biden will protect 917,000 acres adjacent to the national park, answering calls from a coalition of Native American tribes.

Congressional Retrumplicans have two main policies: worship, protect and defend Donald Trump at all costs and oppose Biden and the Democrats in everything. Today's House vote was predictable: every Democrat voted no and every Retrumplican voted yes..
