A bipartisan bill laying out energy efficiency standards and phasing out inefficient light bulbs in favor of LED bulbs and fluorescent bulbs was approved during the George W. Bush administration and implemented during the Obama administration. In 2019, Donald Trump rolled back the standards. He complained that LED bulbs made his skin look orange. Yes, in Trumpworld everything is always about Trump!

In December 2017, President Donald Trump gave huge tax cuts to banks, big corporations and the wealthiest Americans. The Congressional Budget Office projected the tax cuts would add $1.9 trillion to the federal deficit by 2025. Amazon executive chairman Jeff Bezos, whose net worth is $140 billion and who is the third wealthiest person in the world, is offended by President Biden's May 13 tweet saying inflation could be lowered if big corporations paid "their fair share" of taxes. Boo-hoo, Jeff. Boo-hoo.

Jeff Bezos demands Twitter probe after Biden calls for corporations to pay fair share of taxes
"Rich man doesn’t want higher taxes, a shocking development," sniped a critic on Twitter.

Fifteen Republican Senators and 14 Republican House members voted with Democrats on Thursday and Friday. respectively, to pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. Among other provisions, it includes billions of dollars in funding for state mental health services and school security and it provides grants to states to adopt "red flag" laws to keep guns out of the hands of people who are deemed a threat to themselves or others. Democrats wanted a more far-reaching bill that included a ban on assault weapons – but Republicans are opposed to such a ban. They, and the Supreme Court, say the Second Amendment gives everyone 18 and older the right to own military-style assault rifles capable of killing hundreds of people in minutes. They ignore the part about the "well-regulated militia."

In his inaugural address on January 20, 2021, President Biden declared, "Together we shall write an American story of hope, not fear. Of unity, not division. Of light, not darkness. An American story of decency and dignity. Of love and of healing. Of greatness and of goodness." Unfortunately, Retrumplicans do not want unity. Or light. Or decency. Or dignity. Or love. Or healing. Or greatness. Or goodness.

Unfortunately, there is probably no shortage of terrorists willing to take al-Zawahri's place.

US military operation killed al-Qaida leader Ayman al-Zawahri, Biden Says
The Associated Press, Aug 1 2022 05:42 PM EDT

President Joe Biden expressed hope today that the killing of al-Qaida leader Ayman al-Zawahri brings "one more measure of closure" to families of the victims of the September 11 2001 attacks on the United States. Biden made the comments as he confirmed that a US drone strike in Afghanistan July 31 killed al-Zawahri. "He will never again, never again, allow Afghanistan to become a terrorist safe haven because he is gone and we’re going to make sure that nothing else happens,” Biden said in an address from the White House formally announcing the operation. "This terrorist is no more." Al-Zawahri had led al-Qaida since Osama bin Laden's death in 2011.

Of the 50 Senate Republicans, how many voted for the Inflation Reduction Act? None. Retrumplicans have only two policies: worship, support, protect and defend Donald Trump and oppose everything President Biden and the Democrats want to do.

Biden signs massive climate and health care legislation
The Associated Press, Aug 16 2022 3:16 PM

President Joe Biden today signed Democrats’ landmark climate change and health care bill into law, delivering what he has called the “final piece” of his pared-down domestic agenda, as he aims to boost his party’s standing with voters less than three months before the midterm elections. The Inflation Reduction Acr includes the most substantial federal investment in history to fight climate change – some $375 billion over the decade – and would cap prescription drug costs at $2,000 out-of-pocket annually for Medicare recipients. It also would help an estimated 13 million Americans pay for health care insurance by extending subsidies provided during the coronavirus pandemic.

The measure is paid for by new taxes on large companies and stepped-up IRS enforcement of wealthy individuals and entities, with additional funds going to reduce the federal deficit.

At an August 25 rally in Rockville, Maryland, Biden denounced the MAGA Republicans: "They don’t just threaten our personal rights and economic security. They’re a threat to our very democracy. They refuse to accept the will of the people. They embrace political violence. They don’t believe in democracy." Today he denounced the MAGA Republicans for claiming to be for "law and order" while referring to the January 6 Capitol rioters as "patriots" and attacking the FBI and the Department of Justice for upholding the law.

Biden told the crowd in Rockville that we all need to vote to save democracy: "Trump and the extreme MAGA Republicans have made their choice – to go backwards, full of anger, violence, hate and division. But we’ve chosen a different path forward – the future, unity, hope and optimism. We choose to build a better America."

Ninety-two percent of Retrumplicans disapprove of the job Biden is doing as President. The way most Retrumplicans worship Donald Trump, I'm surprised the number isn't one hundred percent.

Retrumplicans continue to spread Donald Trump's Big Lie of widespread voter fraud and a rigged, stolen election. Retrumplicans attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 Presidential election. Retrumplicans are passing legislation to restrict voter rights and make it easier to rig future elections in the Retrumplicans' favor. And Retrumplicans say Joe Biden is "divisive." Hey, Retrumplicans, look in this mirror!

GOP election deniers really didn't like Biden's speech calling out GOP election deniers
Biden "should be trying to unite the country," fumed candidates who denied the results of the 2020 election and have threatened to undermine future contests.
