Can you say "double standard"? I knew you could. This is from USA TODAY columnist Rex Huppke, who holds a master’s degree from the University of Missouri Graduate School of Journalism.

Trump is 78 and barely coherent. Where's everyone who questioned Biden's age and fitness?
Where are the headlines screaming: 'Deranged old man peddles nonsense while threatening violent deportation of immigrants'?

"Look, if I say I lost the 2020 election, everyone will think of me a loser. I can't have that, okay? And I didn't lose the election. I. I won by a landslide – but it was rigged and stolen. I know I've been saying for four years that I will provide irrefutable evidence of voter fraud. I will do that when the time is right, okay? Right now I'm more concerned that Crooked Joe and Comrade Kamala and the dishonest Democrats will steal this year's election too."

II Thessalonians chapter 2 tells us that in the latter days there will appear a "man of lawlessness" who "will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped." He will deceive the masses. They will "refuse to love the truth" and will believe his lies. Donald Trump's blindly loyal followers worship him. They believe his lies. They are willing to fight for him and, if need be, to kill for him or die for him. How sad. And how pathetic.

Last month on his Truth Social site, Donald Trump posted images of Taylor Swift and her "Swifties." He was happy to have Taylor's endorsement for President. He wrote, "I accept!" Of course the images were AI-generated. They were fake. Last night, Taylor endorsed Kamala Harris – and now is Donald Trump's enemy.

In a post on Instagram, Taylor endorsed Kamala Harris for President. Instagram posts disappear after 24 hours. Taylor's influence may never disappear.

In 24 of the 31 Presidential elections since 1900, the candidate who won Pennsylvania's electoral votes became President. Political analyst Nate Silver says if Harris wins Pennsylvania in 2024, she has a 91% chance of becoming President – and If Trump wins Pennsylvania, he has a 96% chance of becoming President. In Pennsylvania, more Democrats than Republicans vote by mail – and the state's Supreme Court just rigged the election in favor of Trump.

Swing states, also known as battleground states, are states in which Democrats and Republicans have similar levels of support. Those states – Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin – could "swing" either way in a Presidential election. The win-at-all-costs Retrumplicans are filing lawsuits in an effort to rig the vote in favor of Retrumplicans. Of course Retrumplicans, who also have passed voter-suppression legislation and redrawn many Congressional districts to favor their own party, will never admit to trying to rig the election. No, they insist they're merely trying to maintain "election integrity."

Republicans sued three battleground states this week. Here’s what you need to know.

Apparently there are millions of Americans who base their decision on who to vote for – or who to vote against – on celebrity endorsements. This is one more reason to fear that our democracy may not survive many more years. The number one reason: Donald Trump's near-total control of the Retrumplican Party.

In the 2016 election, Trump defeated Clinton by a 0.72% margin in Pennsylvania. In 2020, Biden defeated Trump by a 1.17% margin in Pennsylvania. In 2024, whoever wins Pennsylvania's 19 electoral votes is likely to win the Presidency..

Fox News, a.k.a. the Trump Cheerleading channel, is, very predictably, denouncing Scientific American[ for endorsing Harris. They say the magazine should focus on science, not politics or public policy. Of course we know Fox News would not have complained if the magazine had endorsed Trump.

Scientific American makes presidential endorsement for only the second time in its 179-year history
    The Independent, Sep 16 2024

Scientific American has waded into the political sphere after making a presidential endorsement, only the second in its 179-year history. "Vote for Kamala Harris to support science, health and the environment," read the headline on Monday, announcing the publication’s official support for the Democratic presidential candidate. The magazine backed Joe Biden during the 2020 election.

"The US faces two futures," the editors wrote, pushing one candidate who "offers the country better prospects, relying on science, solid evidence and the willingness to learn from experience." They continued: "In the other future, the new president endangers public health and safety and rejects evidence, preferring instead nonsensical conspiracy fantasies."

Scientific American, which has a global readership of six million, cited Harris’s record as vice president, senator and presidential candidate as reasons for endorsing her. They acknowledged that Trump "also has a record - a disastrous one," during his time in the White House.
