A majority of Retrumplican Governors are vehemently opposed to lockdowns, mask mandates and mandatory vaccinations – and then, with zero evidence, they blame the rise in COVID cases on black people and asylum seekers. Quick, somebody give these Retrumplicans a mirror!

When cities, counties and states impose a mask mandate, Retrumplicans protest and say it's "government overreach" – but when Retrumplican Governors and Retrumplican legislatures ban mask mandates, that is not government overreach. Nope, not at all. And never mind how many thousands of people wind up dying of COVID.

In the United States, more than 653,000 people have died of COVID-19. In 14 states, the number of deaths increased by more than 50% in the past week. In Texas, where the Retrumplican Governor is vehemently opposed to mask mandates and mandatory vaccinations, more than 56,000 have died. The death toll has surpassed 65,000 in California, 54,000 in New York and 43,000 in Florida.

On July 4, 2020, Wallace organized a "Freedom Rally" in San Angelo to protest masks, vaccinations, lockdowns and business closures. A flyer said the rally is for people who are “sick of the government being in control of our lives.” Wallace said he has the freedom to not wear a mask. What he did not admit is that not wearing a mask also gives him the freedom to get COVID-19, to infect others, to die from it and to cause others to die from it. Now his wife has no husband and his three children – soon to be four – have no father.

Despite the dramatic rise in COVID-19 cases among children, Retrumplican Governors continue to be vehemently opposed to mask mandates in schools. In the name of "freedom" and "parental choice," they are showing us they have no interest in protecting children from the deadly virus. They don't care if children die. Let us hope voters remember this in 2022 and 2024.

Worldwide, more than 219,200,000 people have gotten COVID-19 and more than 4,545,000 have died. A peptide in the venom of the jararacussu pit viper inhibits the virus's ability to multiply in monkey cells. This is exciting news for those of us who are worried about monkeys getting COVID-19 – but maybe the peptide will work on human cells too. That remains to be seen.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott, a Retrumplican, is vehemently opposed to mask mandates. He issued an executive order banning schools and government agencies from requiring masks. The number of children with COVID-19 has more than quadrupled in the past month and hundreds of parents have pulled their kids out of school rather than risk them getting infected. The ban is being challenged in court. Meanwhile, how many students and teachers will become infected? How many will die? And why does Abbott not care?

Ron DeSantis, the Retrumplican Governor of Florida, is opposed to mask mandates in schools. He says mask mandates are in violation of the "Parents Bill Of Rights." In other words, the schools have absolutely no business trying to protect students and teachers from COVID-19. DeSantis says it should be up to the parents, not the schools, whether their children wear a mask. In Florida, more than 3,410,000 people have gotten COVID-19 and more than 46,900 have died. DeSantis doesn't care. How sad.

    CNN, Sep 7 2021 8:08 PM ET

Thirteen school employees from Miami-Dade County Public Schools have died from COVID-19 since August 16, United Teachers of Dade union president Karla Hernandez-Mats told CNN today. Among the 13 were four teachers, one security monitor, one cafeteria worker and seven school bus drivers. All were unvaccinated.

Next week the 1st District Court of Appeal in Tallahassee will decide if the ban on school mask mandates is legal. Retrumplican Governor Ron DeSantis is confident his ban will be upheld – and students and teachers will continue to get COVID-19. According to data released yesterday by the American Academy of Pediatrics, children accounted for 26.8% of new COVID cases in the week ending September 2. Ron DeSantis doesn't care. How sad.
