Does anyone here like soccer? Sacramento is going to get a new MLS team, the Republic. It will be the 4th MLS team in California.

In only its second year of existence, the LAFC set a MLS record for points scored and tied the record for goals. Team captain Carlos Vela became the all-time single-season scoring leader. And last night they lost 3-1 to the Seattle Sounders in the Western Conference championship game. Vela made only one shot and, for the first time in 11 games, scored no points. Coach Bob Bradley lamented, "Football-wise, tonight wasn't our best night." Gee, ya think?

In 11 seasons, the Sounders have never missed the playoffs and on November 10 they will play either Toronta or Atlanta for the MLS Cup. The Eastern Conference championship game is tonight.

The Sounders beat Toronto 3-1 to win the MLS cup. They also won the MLS Cup three years ago. Congratulations to Seattle!

Penguin was correct. Charlotte is getting an expansion team. They'll begin play in 2021. Team owner is David Tepper, who also owns the Carolina Panthers and is the founder and president of global hedge fund Appalloosa Management.
