The headlines are coming "fast and furious" today. Trump may not know how to spell "Constitutional crisis" but he's on the way to becoming embroiled in one.

"Look, I don't want Sleepy Joe beating me in 2020, okay? I don't care if his son didn't violate any laws, okay? Zelensky, Giuliani and I will find something, okay? And if we can't find anything, we'll just make something up, okay? My supporters love me. They'll believe anything I tell 'em, okay?"

In 1972, five burglars broke into DNC headquarters at the Watergate office complex in Washington DC. Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein were assigned to cover the story. The five were connected to Richard Nixon's re-election campaign. There were slush funds and wiretapping and illegal tape recordings. The corruption ran deep. Nixon declared, "No one in this administration was involved." He was lying. Ultimately, 69 people were indicted and 48 were convicted. Two months after Woodward and Bernstein published their research in the book All The President's Men, Nixon resigned as President. He was about to be impeached for covering up the break-in.

That brings us to the current President who hides his taxes, hides his finances, hides his phone calls, hides details of his meetings with Putin, tries to impede federal investigations and orders his aides to ignore subpoenas. For Carl Bernstein, it's déjà vu.

The orange-skinned parrot continues to squawk "Hoax!" and "Witch hunt!" He's also demanding Adam Schiff resign and he's – again – attacking the "LameStream Media." Meanwhile, Nancy Pelosi is dismayed by the "rogue" Justice Department and the attempts of the White House to cover up a cover-up. And, oh yeah, she offers Trump her "thoughts and prayers." Where have I heard that before?

Volodymyr Zelensky, a comedian, was elected President of Ukraine in April. Emperor Trump appointed Rudy Giuliani as emissary to Ukraine. In May, Giuliani canceled a trip to Ukraine after Democrats denounced his effort to push the country to launch investigations that could benefit Trump politically. They said he was trying to recruit a foreign nation to influence a US election. Giuliani told the New Yorl Times, "We're not meddling in an election. We're meddling in an investigation, which we have a right to do."

Then came the phone call, with Trump witholding military aid, asking Zelensky for a "favor" and offering the assistance of Giuliani and the Attorney General so Zelensky can dig up dirt on Joe Biden, Hunter Biden and cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike, which had done work for the Democrats in 2016. Through all this, Trump's blindly loyal aides participated in his scheme and helped keep it under wraps. The Los Angeles Times calls them "loyalists" – but their loyalty is to Trump, not to the United States of America. Such is the irresistible lure of the orange-skinned Pied Piper.

Emperor Trump claims his administration is "the most transparent in history." In the Trump dictionary, "transparency" apparently is a synonym for "stonewalling."

Here is further proof that Republicans care only about their party and Emperor Trump, not about the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the rule of law or what is best for the United States of America:

"Impeach Bill Clinton! Impeach Bill Clinton!" – Lindsey Graham, Charles Grassley, Mitch McConnell, 1998.

"Democrats want to impeach Trump! Trump has done nothing wrong!" – Lindsey Graham, Charles Grassley, Mitch McConnell, 2019.

Impeach Clinton? Impeach Trump? What lawmakers said then, what they say now.

More than 300 former national security and foreign policy officials say Trump's effort to solicit help from a foreign power for his own personal and political gain is "an unconscionable abuse of power." That is true – but, as we all know, Trump does not have a conscience.
