After reading this story, I'm temporarily halting my plan to start making a Zinfandel called Sweet Child O' Wine. (Guns N' Roses fans will get that.)

Guns N' Roses is taking a Colorado brewery to court over Guns 'N' Rosé ale

To purchase apps for your iPhone, you have to go to Apple's App Store, where you'll pay a 30% fee. Does that sound like an unfair, monopolistic business practice that drives up prices? Yes, yes it does – and it might be coming to an end.

Apple's surprise defeat in the Supreme Court is bad news for Tim Cook's turnaround plan
    Business Insider, May 13 2019

Apple's loss at the Supreme Court could ultimately hobble its services business. The court ruled that an antitrust case over the fees Apple charges on app sales could go forward. Those fees comprise the biggest portion of Apple's services business and a significant chunk of its total gross profit. The court's decision makes it more likely that Apple is ultimately going to have to reduce its App Store fees. Unfortunately for Apple, the App Store is a linchpin of the services business that CEO Tim Cook is betting the company's future on.

"Quit working for us and then you can start working for us." Something about this offer doesn't quite make sense. I'm still trying to figure it out.

Amazon to employees: Quit and we’ll help you start a delivery business
Amazon will cover up to $10,000 in startup costs and pay three months' worth of salary.

Hundreds of thousands of unsold products? Amazon provides free one-day or two-day trashing. This is outrageous!

Remember when Trump promised that his huge tax cuts for banks, big corporations and the wealthiest Americans would be like "rocket fuel" in boosting our economy? He bragged about all the pay raises and new jobs the tax cuts would bring about. Let's see how that's working out:

AT&T promised 7,000 new jobs to get a corporate tax cut. It cut 23,328 jobs instead.
AT&T also cut capital spending despite promising $1 billion capital boost.

It's called "the Amazon effect" – whatever Amazon does, other retailers try to do the same thing.

Trump's 25% tariffs on 200 billion dollars' worth of Chinese-made goods are driving up the price of steel, aluminum, clothing, shoes, toys, bicycles, motorcycles, furniture, electronics, solar panels and thousands of other products and he's considering imposing tariffs on an additional 325 billion dollars' worth of goods. Trump says China pays for these tariffs. Trump is wrong – we do.

On January 8 – Go look! – I posted the news of Amazon facing backlash from Muslims for selling bath mats and welcome mats bearing Islamic calligraphy. Muslims say stepping on the Islamic writing would be disrespectful. Amazon has now found another religious group to offend. यह आक्रामक है – वे बेहतर पता होना चाहिए.
