A white nationalist who referred to Muslim immigrants as an "invasion" shot and killed 49 people. Our white nationalist President said today he doesn't view white nationalism as a threat. He also referred to immigrants coming to our southern border as an "invasion." Not surprisingly, the gunman is a big admirer of our fear-mongering, immigrant-hating President.

In New Zealand, gun owners need a license but they aren't required to register their guns. That will likely change. Annually -- until Friday's massacre -- New Zealand had been averaging one gun death per every 100,000 people. In the US, the annual rate of gun deaths is 12 per every 100,000 people. Yikes!

ABC News quoted this open letter to Donald Trump from Nihad Awad, Executive Director of the Council On American-Islamic Relations: "During your Presidency and during your election campaign, Islamophobia took a sharp rise and attacks on innocent Muslims, innocent immigrants and mosques have skyrocketed. We hold you responsible for this growing anti-Muslim sentiment in the country and in Europe."

Trump's blindly loyal supporters see absolutely nothing inciteful or inflammatory in his racist, bigoted, hateful, anti-immigrant, fear-mongering, white nationalist rhetoric. The rest of us know the rhetoric is Trump's chief weapon in his "Make America hate again" campaign.

The death toll in the mosque attacks is now 50. The number of hate groups in the United States is at an all-time high. The number of hate crimes and terrorist attacks committed by white nationalists and right-wing extremists is increasing dramatically. Yet our white nationalist President doesn't see white nationalism as a threat. He probably will never consider it to be a threat unless his BFF Vladimir Putin tells him so.

The gunman in yesterday's shooting in a Seattle neighborhood is a former Microsoft employee. He had a handgun, not a semiautomatic weapon -- but handguns are just as deadly.
