14 children and a teacher were killed today in a school shooting in Texas. This is heartbreaking. When parents send their kids to school, they can't be sure they will ever see them alive again.

CNN says the death toll is now 18 children and two adults. This is the 30th school shooting in the United States so far this year and the 212th mass shooting overall. Our nation is truly "the land of the guns and the home of the shootings." Retrumplicans keep offering their meaningless "thoughts and prayers" and they vote against every gun-control measure that is proposed in Congress. These shootings, sadly, will continue.

California has had more mass shootings than any other state. Florida ranks second. Texas is third. Eighteen people were gunned doiwn at the University of Texas in 1966. Twenty-four were gunned down at a cafeteria in Killeen in 1991. Thirteen were gunned down at Fort Hood in 2009. Twenty-seven were gunned down at a church in Sutherland Springs in 2017. Ten were gunned down at Santa Fe High School in 2018. Twenty-three were gunned down at a Walmart in El Paso in 2019. Twenty-one were gunned down at an elementary school in Uvalde in 2022.
