    The Supreme Court ruled that the 2nd Amendment protects the individual's right to own "guns in common use." Semi-automatic assault rifles are the weapon of choice for mass shooters but are not in "common use." They were banned from 1994 to 2004. The ban should never have been allowed to lapse. It should have been strengthened. "America is terrified," declares an editorial in the New York Post noting 11 recent massacres and urging Trump to "ban weapons of war." We can only hope.

    In Trumpworld, the Land of Delusions, spewing a steady stream of hateful, racist, divisive, fear-mongering, anti-immigrant, white nationalist rhetoric has absolutely no connection to the rise of hatred, bigotry, xenophobia and anti-Mexican sentiment in the United States. None whatsoever. No, the problem is violent movies, violent video games, mental illness and the Internet. And, oh yeah, the news media. Always blame the news media. For everything.

    Analysis: Trump blames everything but his own words for hate in America

    Even when our nation is reeling from several mass shootings, the orange-skinned parrot just can't resist attacking the news media and squawking, "Fake news! Fake news! Awwwkkk!"

    Donald J. Trump
    @realDonaldTrump
    The Media has a big responsibility to life and safety in our Country. Fake News has contributed greatly to the anger and rage that has built up over many years. News coverage has got to start being fair, balanced and unbiased, or these terrible problems will only get worse!

    Why is it copycats want to copy bad behavior, never good behavior? What is wrong with society that anyone would look to mass murderers as role models?

    Today's children and teenagers did not live through the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 – but they're living in fear because, for them, every mass shooting is the equivalent of a small-scale 9/11. Their friends and family members and classmates are dying and nobody knows who will be next. Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republicans could take immediate action to ban assault weapons and high-capacity ammo magazines, enact universal background checks and provide more funding for mental health research – but they won't. They do the bidding of the NRA. Guns are more important than human life. This story is heartbreaking:

    In January, Oregon Senator Rob Wagner introduced a bill (SB 501) which would require licenses for all guns, limit ammo magazines to five rounds, limit purchase of ammo to 20 rounds per month and require all guns to be locked up when not in use. Earlier today, Mike Turner, a Republican Congressman who represents Dayton and served as the city's mayor from 1993 to 2002, reversed his earlier position and now supports a ban on semi-automatic weapons. He also wants to keep guns out of the hands of "mentally unstable people." Turner's proposals are sensible. Wagner's proposals are draconian – but understandable. To halt the rising tide of gun violence and mass shootings, Wagner's proposals and Turner's proposas need to be enacted on a federal level. Now.

    Democrats have been urging Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell to reconvene the Senate for a vote on a House-passed bill that mandates universal background checks for gun purchases. McConnell, a Republican, refuses to do so. For the NRA-puppet Republicans, guns are of supreme importance. Human life? Eh, not so much.

    Republicans fear 'extinction in the suburbs' over gun control
    After two gruesome mass shootings in a 24-hour span, some Republicans are raising alarms that their opposition to new firearm limits is making the party toxic to suburban women and college graduates who will shape the 2020 election.

    Semi-automatic, military-style rifles are the weapon of choice for mass murderers – and Trump says there is "no political appetite" to ban them. So.......Republicans have an appetite for more mass shootings? More bloodshed? More deaths? More wounded? Or do they just not want to take any action that would cost them the support – and campaign contributions – of the NRA?

    "Homeland Security officials battled the White House for more than a year to get them to focus more on domestic terrorism," a White House source told CNN. "The White House wanted to focus only on the jihadist threat which, while serious, ignored the reality that racial supremacist violence was rising fast here at home." In other words, Emperor Trump sees Islamic terrorists as evil monsters but American-born white nationalist terrorists are "very fine people."
