I understand the shock and the grief and the anger that the people of Pittsburgh are dealing with but do they honestly think our nation's biggest white nationalist would ever denounce white nationalism?

Jewish leaders tell Trump he's not welcome in Pittsburgh until he denounces white nationalism
    The Hill, Oct 28 2018

A group of Jewish leaders told President Trump he is no longer welcome in Pittsburgh until he denounces white nationalism following the shooting at a synagogue there over the weekend. Eleven members of the Pittsburgh affiliate of Bend The Arc: A Jewish Partnership For Justice penned a letter to Trump following the Saturday shooting at the Tree Of Life Synagogue.

"Our Jewish community is not the only group you have targeted," the group wrote. "You have also deliberately undermined the safety of people of color, Muslims, LGBTQ people and people with disabilities. Yesterday's massacre is not the first act of terror you incited against a minority group in our country."

Trump was fiercely criticized after he failed to condemn white supremacy and asserted that there is "blame on both sides" after last year's white supremacist rally in Charlottesville. The group also said Trump is not welcome in the city until he also stops targeting minorities, immigrants and refugees.

A gunman motivated by Trump's hateful rhetoric enters a synagogue and kills 11 people and wounds six others. Two Muslim non-profit groups -- and we all know Trump hates Muslims -- are raising money to help the victims. In response to the massacre, Americans are coming together, no thanks to Trump.

As Ray Stevens sang, "There is none so blind as he who will not see." Trump refuses to see that his hateful rhetoric is motivating many of his blindly loyal, deranged supporters to commit hate crimes, up to and including murder, against Muslims, Jews, Mexicans, Sikhs and immigrants. And the President refuses to heed the nice little "Come together" message that he read off a teleprompter. In true Stalin-Mao-Hitler-Mussolini fashion, Trump continues to attack the free press and blame the news media for the violence. Kellyanne Conway at least found a different "enemy" to blame for the shooting.

Another day, another school shooting. Why is it so easy for students to bring guns into the schools?

A spokeswoman, making an obvious dig at Trump and the Republicans, described the fundraiser as "a gesture of solidarity. We wanted to give more than just 'thoughts and prayers.'"

Do we really need more "research"? Here is the simple equation: Hatred + anger + guns = shootings and murders. Now do something about it!

CDC director Robert Redfield says they're 'poised' to do more research on the causes of gun violence gun if Congress chooses to give it additional funding

Donald Trump refuses to denounce white nationalism so it shouldn't surprise anybody that he doesn't want to fight white nationalism.

Trump administration will apparently not renew program to fight domestic terror
    NBC News, Oct 31 2018 2:18 PM

The Trump administration, which already canceled a grant for a group that fights white supremacist terror, now appears unwilling to renew the anti-domestic terror program under which it was funded, despite recent high-profile attacks such as the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting and data showing a spike in attacks on religious minorities. The Obama administration launched the Countering Violent Extremism Grant Program in 2016 to fight domestic terrorism. Managed by the Department of Homeland Security, the program was given $10 million to distribute. In the last days of the Obama administration, DHS awarded the money to more than two dozen groups around the country to counter violent extremism of all kinds, including right-wing extremism. Data from the Global Terrorism Database shows there was a spike in attacks on American religious organizations in 2016-2017.

The money paid for the development of new approaches to prevent terrorism before it begins. Programs that develop training materials for law enforcement, mental health counselors and schools to better identify warning signs of extremism so that terrorism can be averted were designated to receive funds. But weeks after President Trump took office, the funding was put on hold. When the funds were finally distributed six months later, most of the original grant recipients received the money awarded them under Obama but at least four grants were canceled. The only group that specifically fought white supremacist ideology, the Chicago-based Life After Hate, was among those excluded from funding. The group had been slated to receive $400,000.

According to a March 2018 DHS progress report on the program, the "vast majority of projects are making substantial progress." But now it appears the DHS has no plans to continue the program past the end of its funding in July 2019.

Among the most common yoga postures are plank, tree, bridge, triangle, warrior and downward facing dog. Today in Tallahassee, a new posture was -- unfortunately -- necessary: "Run for your life at the first sound of gunfire."

The many mass shootings are horrific enough but there are also a large number of stories of young boys shooting and killing family members. Our nation has an estimated 300,000,000 guns and anybody, of any age, who is driven by hatred and anger can easily get a gun and kill someone. When will it stop? Or will it?
