More money for Mickey Mouse's many employees. (Sorry, I couldn't find a synonym for "employees" that starts with "m.")

I can hear it now: "We don't need your $267 million in tax breaks, Mayor Tait. We can just raise the parking fee to $50 and raise Disneyland's admission price to $199. Everything will be fine."

Anaheim officially puts an end to tax breaks for Disneyland Resort

"You kids go ride Dumbo and the Casey Jr. Circus Train while your mother and I go into the cantina and get drunk. I'll be sobered up in time to drive us home tonight -- I promise."

Disneyland's Star Wars land cantina will serve pre-mixed alcoholic drinks — a first for the park
Los Angeles Times, Aug 30 2018 2:05 PM

Disneyland visitors who explore the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge expansion that opens next year will be invited to belly up to a dimly lit Star Wars-inspired cantina where — for the first time in the park — they can order alcoholic drinks. New artist renderings released on the Disneyland blog today show a dark tavern where Stormtroopers, bounty hunters, smugglers and other alien travelers crowd around a bar that serves various concoctions. The post says the tavern, dubbed Oga’s Cantina, will serve "libations for adults."

The libations will include pre-mixed alcoholic drinks, a significant development at the attraction because Disneyland has never sold booze to park visitors, except to members of the private Club 33, an exclusive dinner club at Disneyland’s New Orleans Square. Park goers who order drinks in the cantina won’t be allowed to take them out into the park. Walt Disney, who died in 1966, opposed the sale of alcohol in his parks, saying he felt the introduction of booze would ruin the family atmosphere.

Disneyland permits smoking in only one area, the passageway between Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Fantasyland. A future United States President was unaware of that rule -- and he paid the price:

Obama's story of getting booted out of Disney
During a campaign speech rallying for California congressional candidates, former President Barack Obama shared a story of how he was 'booted' out of Disneyland for smoking cigarettes.

The good news: Their hourly wages will rise by $1.75 and they'll each get a $1,000 bonus. The bad news: They still won't be able to afford to spend a night at any of the three hotels where they work.

Disneyland Resort hotel workers approve new contract with $15-an-hour minimum wage

These new Oreos went on sale September 24. They're selling for around $3 in the stores but you can get them on eBay if you want to pay as much as quadruple the retail price.

New birthday cake-flavored Oreos celebrate Mickey Mouse's 90th birthday
    ABC News, Sep 19 2018

Mickey Mouse is turning 90 this year! For his big birthday, Disney teamed up with Oreo to mark the 90th anniversary of Mickey Mouse with limited-edition birthday cake-flavored Oreos. There are three different designs on top of the wafers: Mickey Mouse, a party horn and a big 90 in honor of this major milestone.

Will Disneyland ever limit the number of people who can enter the park on any given day? Well, to do so would also limit how much money the park makes on any given day, so.........no.

Will there be any space left to sit at Disneyland anymore?
Orange County Register, Sep 25 2018 6:30 AM

Moving people around a theme park is like one of those slide-tray puzzles. You move from one place to any other space that is clear, in the hope that eventually you will get to wherever you actually wanted to go. Except that at Disneyland, there’s often not that extra, empty space you need to move around the board. It’s gridlock. Disney's latest step to address its overcrowding problem is to remove seating in several places around the park, in an attempt to improve guest flow.

People go to Disneyland to experience Disneyland, not just to ride Pirates Of The Caribbean or Space Mountain or the Haunted Mansion. Disneyland is a place where you can hang out, enjoy a snack, take in the ambience and relax in a beautiful setting. Of course, most of us do that by grabbing a space on a bench and sitting down. With fewer places to sit, more of Disneyland’s spaces in between its various rides and shows are becoming avenues instead of destinations. With a limited amount of space to accommodate ever-growing crowds, perhaps it must be that way.

Disney Cruise Line operates Castaway Cay, a private island in the Bahamas. Disney, which in the next five years will add three new cruise ships to its line, wants to build another port in the Bahamas. Many locals are opposed because they believe most of the jobs and revenue will benefit Disney, not the Bahamas. Yeah, so?

Disney has done live-action remakes of Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Winnie The Pooh, 101 Dalmatians, The Jungle Book (twice), Pete's Dragon, Alice In Wonderland and Beauty & The Beast and they're working on live-action remakes of Dumbo, Aladdin, Mulan and The Lion King. Do you think they've run out of animated films to make live-action versions of? Think again.

In June, Disney shut down the Rainforest Café, ESPN Zone, AMC theater and Earl of Sandwich and planned to tear them down and start construction on a 700-room luxury hotel. But now, "Boo hoo, Anaheim won't give us a $267 million tax break so we just won't build our hotel -- so there! Nyaah nyaah nyaah!"

Disney pulls the plug on its proposed luxury hotel in Anaheim, citing the loss of a tax break
