This is what happens when someone has too much greed, too much power and a lack of ethics:

Top LA Times, Chicago Tribune exec pays himself $15 million in Christmas Eve surprise
    TheWrap, Dec 25 2017

The chairman of the company that owns the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune and New York Daily News has awarded himself $15 million in consulting contracts for the publishing conglomerate, according to an SEC filing. The document, which was filed on Friday afternoon ahead of the Christmas break, provides Merrick Media, the consulting firm owned by Tronc Chairman Michael Ferro, with a three-year contract at $5 million per year "to provide certain management expertise and technical services." The document offers no other detail on what those consulting services might entail. However, it notes that Ferro's private jet travel will now be covered by Merrick Media. Ferro's private travel was previously under fire for costing the L.A. Times $4.6 million in 2016 and 2017.

Donald Trump continually attacks the news media with his parrot-like chants of "Fake news! Fake news! Fake news! Awwkkk!" He has done it again, tweeting this on December 30:

"I use Social Media not because I like to but because it is the only way to fight a VERY dishonest and unfair 'press,' now often referred to as Fake News Media. Phony and non-existent 'sources' are being used more often than ever. Many stories & reports are pure fiction!"

"Dishonest"? "Unfair"? "Fake"? "Phony sources"? "Pure fiction"? Really, Donald? Can you cite a few examples? No, of course you can't.

Kotb officially replaces the disgraced Matt Lauer. (Out of curiosity, I checked to see if there was ever a KOTB radio station. There indeed was: an adult contemporary station in Evanston, Wyoming, 1981-2004.)

Hoda Kotb named permanent co-host of NBC's Today

It would be nice to have a news channel which really is a news channel -- no Anthony Bourdain, no Forensic Files, no Lockup Atlanta or other non-news programs.

Dickerson has been with CBS News since 2009. In 2015, he succeeded Bob Schieffer as host of Face The Nation. Since March of 2017, he has also served as CBS News' chief Washington correspondent. Busy busy busy!

John Dickerson expected to replace Charlie Rose at CBS This Morning
    Variety, Jan 9 2018 9:32 AM

CBS News is expected to name Face The Nation host John Dickerson as the new co-anchor of CBS This Morning, according to two people familiar with the situation, placing the Washington anchor in a role that was previously filled by Charlie Rose. He will join Gayle King and Norah O’Donnell on the program. The show has been without a regular third co-anchor since CBS ousted Rose in the wake of allegations of sexual harassment made against him by employees of his production company as well as staffers at CBS News.
