House Democrats are planning to introduce an article of impeachment January 11, charging Trump with inciting an insurrection. If the Senate conducts a trial, it would not begin until after Biden is sworn in – but if Trump is convicted, he would be ineligible to ever again hold any public office. Trump has already started seeking sleazy, corrupt, crooked, amoral, unethical lawyers who will defend his indefensible actions. Sadly, there are several such people.

I have heard many people say, regarding the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol, "Things like this don't happen in America." Well, it did happen – in Donald Trump's America. Trump's blindly loyal supporters believe everything he says, including his oft-told lie that the election was "stolen" from him. When he told them to march to the Capitol and protest, they willingly did so. And the riot was much more violent than we initially saw on television.

Now it's sinking in: Wednesday's Capitol Hill riot was even more violent than it first appeared

In an ABC News/Ipsos poll released today, 56% of Americans believe Donald Trump should be removed from office – either by resignation, impeachment or invocation of the 25th Amendment – for inciting a deadly insurrection at the Capitol. Two days ago, Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski became the first Republican Senator to say Trump should resign. Today she has company.

Pennsylvania Republican Senator Pat Toomey says Trump should resign
Toomey said the President has "spiraled down into a kind of madness" and should "go away as soon as possible."

The Cult of Donald Trump is alive and well. Even after inciting an insurrection, Trump still maintains an iron grip on the Republican party. How sad – and how alarming.

The exodus continues. Wolf said four days ago he would not resign. He's changed his mind.

Many more armed protests are planned. Trump will be responsible for every one of them.

Demented, deranged, delusional Donald had this to say about his speech directing his supporters to march to the Capitol and "fight" and "take back our country": "If you read my speech, people thought that what I said was totally appropriate." Wow.

What a difference a riot makes! Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell presided over Trump's impeachment trial in January 2020 and brought it to a quick end. Trump was acquitted on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. (Only one Republican, Utah Senator Mitt Romney, voted to convict Trump on abuse of power.) Now that Trump is facing a second impeachment, this time on a charge of inciting an insurrection, McConnell reportedly "hates" Trump and, according to CNN, is viewing the impeachment as a way to "make it easier to get rid of the President and Trumpism from the Republican Party." In the five days following the insurrection at the Capitol, thousands of voters have quit the Republican party. McConnell's support for another impeachment is likely not sincere but rather an attempt to prevent more defections from the Republican party. It should be noted that McConnell has not said if he would vote to convict Trump.

Deranged, demented, delusional Donald will spend the rest of his life insisting he won the election but it was "stolen" from him. He's lost his Twitter and Facebook accounts and he might also lose his YouTube channel. He will always be able to cry and whine on Fox News and One America News Network, though.

Civil rights groups demand Google remove Trump's YouTube channel
    Reuters, Jan 12 2021 3:01 PM

Civil rights groups will organize an advertiser boycott against Alphabet's YouTube if it does not remove President Donald Trump’s channel, the groups told Reuters. Jim Steyer, one of the organizers of the "Stop Hate for Profit" campaign which led over 1,000 advertisers to boycott Facebook in July, said the groups are demanding YouTube take down Trump's verified YouTube channel, which has 2.76 million subscribers.

YouTube is the last major tech company that has not banned Trump from posting on its platforms. Facebook, Twitter and Snap have all blocked Trump after supporters of the President stormed the Capitol last week, leading to five deaths. Trump's YouTube channel gives him the opportunity to continue spreading false information that the election was stolen, Steyer said. YouTube is considering the demand but has yet to act.
