    Nelson appeared in several movies including Mohawk, Hot Rod Girl, Untamed Youth, Revenge Of The Creature, Ma & Pa Kettle At Waikiki, Ma & Pa Kettle At The Fair and Francis Goes To West Point. She co-starred with Merry Anders and Barbara Eden in the first season of the 1957-59 syndicated television series How To Marry A Millionaire. Upset because her role wasn't bigger, she quit and was replaced in the second season by Lisa Gaye. It was explained that Nelson's character had gotten married and moved away.

    Persip toured and recorded with Dizzy Gillespie and was a member of the Harry Edison Quintet before forming his own group, the Jazz Statesmen, in 1960. In 1981, he formed a jazz big band, Superband, which released four albums. Persip played on more than 140 albums, including 15 with Dizzy Gillespie, four with Red Garland and three with Rahsaan Roland Kirk. He also recorded with Quincy Jones, Ray Charles, Donald Byrd, Erroll Garner, Cannonball Adderley, Dinah Washington, George Benson, Lionel Hampton and many others.
