They were famous for their "2000-year-old man" sketches and recorded five albums, the most recent in 1997. Reiner created The Dick Van Dyke Show and appeared in 32 episodes as Alan Brady. He also directed 15 movies, won nine Emmy awards and had roles in 23 films including Oh God, Fatal Instinct, Ocean's Eleven and Gidget Goes Hawaiian. Whew!

Mandel (music) and Mike Altman (lyrics) wrote Suicide Is Painless, the theme song of the 1970 movie M*A*S*H. It was sung in the movie by Walter Waldowski (John Schuck). An instrumental version was used as the theme song of the 1972-83 M*A*S*H television series. Altman is the son of director Robert Altman.
