Taylor played Lamont Sanford's friend Rollo Lawson on 32 episodes of Sanford & Son but he and Demond Wilson, who played Lamont, did not get along with each other in real life. After the series ended in 1977, Wilson and Taylor never again spoke to each other. Taylor also appeared in several other tv shows and the movies Willie Dynamite and The Hunter. He played Rerun's brother-in-law Ike on two episodes of What's Happening.

He moved to the US in 1980 and joined False Alarm, which changed its name to I.O.U. and released three albums (but not all at once).

Dapogny released one solo album and nine albums with his band, which performed at jazz festivals nationwide and appeared frequently on the syndicated public radio program A Prairie Home Companion. But wouldn't you think a Chicago jazz band could have come up with a better name than Chicago Jazz Band?
