    Lanegan was lead singer for Screaming Trees from 1985 to 2000. They released seven albums. Lanegan recorded five albums as a member of Queens Of The Stone Age, 2001-05. He also released 12 solo albums and recorded with Duke Garwood, Isobel Campbell, Soulsavers, the Breeders, the Walkabouts, the Twilight Singers and many others.

    British record producer Guy Stevens named the band after Procul Harum, a friend's Burmese Cat, and became their manager. He also misspelled the name as "Procol." In Latin, procul harum means "far away from these things." The band's hits include Conquistador, Homburg, Grand Hotel, Pandora's Box and A Salty Dog.
