Hall was born Thomas Hall in Olive Hill, Kentucky. He worked as a DJ at WMOR in Morehead and added the middle initial when he began a singing career. Hall had 54 country hits, 1967-86, including 21 top-tens and seven number ones. His hits include Homecoming, I Love, I Care, Country Is, Faster Horses, Ravishing Ruby, I Like Beer, Salute To A Switchblade, Ballad Of Forty Dollars, A Week In A Country Jail, That Song Is Driving Me Crazy, The Year That Clayton Delaney Died and Old Dogs, Children & Watermelon Wine.
