    McIlwaine, born in Nashville, was lead singer of Fear Itself, a short-lived blues-rock band which formed in 1967 in Atlanta and released one self-titled album. McIlwaine released nine solo albums and had lived in Canada since 1987. Among her best-known songs are Losing You, Sliding, Don't Let Go, I Don't Want To Play and The Secret In This Lady's Heart.
