    Punk-rock trio The Jam formed in 1972 in Woking, Surrey, England. They released six studio albums, a live album, three EPs and 18 singles. Five of their albums and two of their EPs made the Billboard 200 album chart in the United States. In the UK, The Jam had nine top-ten singles and four number ones: Going Underground, Start!, A Town Called Malice and Beat Surrender. After The Jam broke up in 1982, lead singer/guitarist Paul Weller formed The Style Council.

    The Easybeats formed in 1964 in Sydney, Australia. Fleet left the group in 1967 and they broke up two years later. In Austalia, the Easybeats had 15 top-40 hits, seven top-tens and two number ones: Friday On My Mind (which reached #16 on the Billboard Hot 100 in May 1967 in the United States) and Sorry.
