The Spinners formed in 1954 in Detroit. John Edwards, who had six solo R&B hits, 1973-77, was the group's lead singer from 1977 until 2000 when he was forced to retire after suffering a stroke. He sang lead on Are You Ready For Love, If You Wanna Do A Dance, Right Or Wrong, Body Language, Cupid/I've Loved You For A Long Time, Working My Way Back To You/Forgive Me Girl and other hits.
