MyPillow chief executive Mike Lindell must face a defamation lawsuit brought by a voting machine company that the Trump ally falsely accused of rigging the 2020 US election, a Minnesota federal judge ruled today. Judge Wilhelmina Wright denied Lindell and MyPillow's motion to dismiss the lawsuit by Smartmatic USA, finding ample evidence that Lindell ignored publicly available information that contradicted his theories. Judge Wright also found sufficient evidence that Lindell knew or should have known his statements were false and acted with "actual malice" in promoting them, a key legal threshold in defamation cases.

Smartmatic and competitor Dominion Voting Systems have filed similar lawsuits against Trump allies and media outlets that spread the rigging claims, including Fox and Newsmax.

He wants the Supreme Court to overturn a lower court's order compelling him to testify about his efforts to overturn Biden's victory in Georgia. Not surprisingly, a conservative, pro-Trump Justice whose wife believes Trump won in 2020 has sided with a Retrumplican Senator who tried to overturn Trump's election loss in Georgia and does not want to testify before a grand jury in the state. Graham's appeal may ultimately be decided by the Supreme Court, which Donald Trump packed with right-wing, pro-Trump Justices.
