After several months of refusing to wear a face mask during the coronavirus pandemic, our vain, pompous, narcissistic, egotistical, delusional President (who loves to capitalize words that shouldn't be capitalized) tweeted a picture of himself wearing a mask. He wrote, "We are United in our effort to defeat the Invisible China Virus, and many people say that it is Patriotic to wear a face mask when you can't socially distance. There is nobody more Patriotic than me, your favorite President!" Wow. Just wow.

CNN Poll of Polls: Biden maintains double-digit lead over Trump nationally
    CNN, July 20 2020 11:44 AM ET

Former Vice President Joe Biden leads President Donald Trump by a significant 12-point margin nationally, according to a CNN Poll of Polls released today. Biden garners 52% support among registered voters, with 40% supporting Trump. The Poll of Polls includes the five most recent national telephone polls measuring the views of registered voters. The polls were all taken as coronavirus cases in the United States continue to rise, and the President maintains that the situation is under control while calling for a complete reopening of the economy and schools. The ongoing outbreak is giving Biden a big advantage in the general election, with recent polling showing voter preference for his approach to the issue.

Joe Biden leads Donald Trump by eight points in FiveThirtyEight.com's latest average of national Presidential polls. Only 40.4% of Americans approve of Trump's performance as President, while 55.5% disapprove. Sean Hannity is Donald Trump's number-one cheerleader. (Rush Limbaugh is number two.) In a phone call with Hannity last night, Trump spewed his usual nonsense about "phony polls" and "the China virus." He once again said Biden is controlled by the "radical left" and once again falsely accused Obama and Biden of spying on his campaign. Trump also declared, "Therapeutically, therapeutics are, I think, going to be fantastic." Huh???

AP-NORC poll: US course at record low, Trump sinks on virus
The Associated Press. Jul 26 2020 12:29 PM

With the November election 100 days away, more Americans say the country is heading in the wrong direction than at any previous point in Donald Trump's Presidency, putting the incumbent in a perilous position as his reelection bid against Democrat Joe Biden enters a pivotal stretch. A new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research also finds Trump's approval for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic falling to a new low, with just 32% of Americans supportive of his approach. Even Trump’s standing on the economy, long the high water mark for the President, has fallen over the past few months after seeming ascendant earlier this year.

FiveThirtyEight.com's latest average of national Presidential polls shows Joe Biden with an 8.3% lead over Donald Trump. Trump is leading Biden by huge margins in Alaska, Alabama, Georgia, Utah, Kentucky and South Carolina. Biden is leading by 31.8% in Massachusetts, 29.1% in California, 10.7% in Kansas, 10.6% in Virginia, 7.9% in Michigan, 7.4% in New Hampshire, 6/7% in Nevada and 6.2% in Florida. Our racist, bigoted, white nationalist President knows he's starting to lose the support of the wealthy white Republicans who comprise his base – so what does he do? He stokes racial fears, of course. It's part of his campaign to "Make America hate again" and "Make America white again."

Today our nation's Tweeter-In-Chief continues to attack vote-by-mail. He calls it a "catastrophic disaster" and declares it will lead to "the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA." Donald Trump's galaxy-sized ego wouldn't allow him to accept that he lost the popular vote in 2016. He tweeted this on November 27: "I won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally." Yes, he claimed – with zero evidence – that as many as 5,000,000 illegal votes were cast and every one of them was for Hillary Clinton! Trump already has his excuses ready in the event he fails to win re-election in 2020: Fraud! Fake! Hoax! Illegitimate! Foreign interference!

FiveThirtyEight.com's latest average of national Presidential polls shows Biden leading Trump by 8.3%. Biden is ahead by 29 points in California, 10.7 in Virginia, 8.1 in Michigan, 7.0 in Wisconsin, 6.6 in Pennsylvania, 5.9 in Florida, 3.9 in Arizona and 2.2 in North Carolina. Analysis: Biden is eating into Trump's Rust Belt base
    CNN, Aug 2 2020 10:14 AM ET

A new Franklin & Marshall College poll from Pennsylvania finds former Vice President Joe Biden at 50% to President Donald Trump's 41%. This is just the latest Pennsylvania poll to show Biden with an advantage. A mid-July Fox News poll put Biden's margin at 11 points. Trump won the 2016 election in large part because he was able to break through the big "blue" wall in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. He did so on the backs of white voters, and in particular white voters without a college degree. But today, Biden leads Trump in these Great Lake (or Rust Belt) battlegrounds because he's eating into Trump's margins among those very groups. These gains have big implications for the electoral college because they suggest Biden's easiest path to victory may be through these three states.

On June 22, Donald Trump tweeted, "Because of MAIL-IN BALLOTS, 2020 will be the most RIGGED Election in our nation's history – unless this stupidity is ended." On July 30, he told reporters, "Absentee ballots are great. I'm going to be voting absentee." David Becker, founder of the nonpartisan Center For Election Innovation & Research, told CNN last month, "You request a ballot, you get a ballot, you vote, you send it in and there are protections in place. It doesn't matter whether you call it mail voting or absentee voting. It's the same thing." So why does Trump continue to insist that voting by mail will lead to widespread fraud but voting by absentee ballot is perfectly okay? They're the same thing!

Trump tweet pushes litigation over Nevada emergency election reform
    KTNV, Aug 2 2020 10:08 AM

An early morning tweet storm from President Donald Trump began with an attack on attempts by Nevada's legislators to expand access to mail-in voting in the November General Election amid the coronavirus pandemic. The President re-tweeted his Nevada campaign co-chair Adam Laxalt's claim that Governor Steve Sisolak and Democrats in the legislature were trying to steal the election with Assembly Bill 4. In the tweet, the president called for "immediate litigation" from Nevada Republicans to block the legislation. AB4 contains provisions that would allow for expanded mail-in voting during emergencies like the current coronavirus pandemic that could limit in-person voting sites and safe access to the ballot box. AB4 passed the Nevada Assembly along party lines and is waiting for consideration by the Senate.

Nationwide, Biden leads Trump by 8.3 points. Six so-called "battleground states" account for 100 electoral votes and could wind up deciding the election. Biden is now leading by 6.8 points in Wisconsin, 5.9 points in Florida, 3.8 points in Arizona and 2.2 in North Carolina. Trump leads by 0.7 in Georgia and 0.2 in Ohio. Ninety-two days till election day.

Biden is leading Trump by 5.8 points in Florida. After several months of insisting – without evidence – that vote-by-mail will lead to widespread fraud, Trump has now decided vote-by-mail is just fine 'n' dandy in Florida because the state's "voting system has been cleaned up." What does he mean by that? Who knows? By the way, 41 states allow vote-by-mail. In five states – Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Utah and Hawai'i – voting is done primarily by mail. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, California will also use mail-in ballots this year.

In apparent reversal, Trump encourages Floridians to vote by mail
    CNN, Aug 4 2020 3:49 PM ET

After repeatedly seeking to discredit mail-in voting, President Donald Trump today claimed Florida's election system is "safe and secure" and encourages Floridians to vote by mail. Trump's change in attitude over the swing state's use of mail-in ballots undermines an argument he'd maintained throughout the coronavirus pandemic – that mail-in ballots pose a distinct election security risk that absentee ballots do not. But elections experts have repeatedly underscored that mail-in voting and absentee voting are essentially the same thing. There are strict measures in place to verify the authenticity of all ballots cast by mail. Trump tweeted, "Whether you call it Vote by Mail or Absentee Voting, in Florida the election system is Safe and Secure, Tried and True. Florida's Voting system has been cleaned up (we defeated Democrats attempts at change), so in Florida I encourage all to request a Ballot & Vote by Mail!"

The President has recently begun laying the groundwork for the doubt and suspicion he could cast on election results if counting mail-in ballots – which are expected to be more widely used as a result of the pandemic – ultimately delays the declaration of a winner.

After many months of claiming – without evidence – that mail-in ballots are susceptible to widespread fraud, Donald Trump yesterday decided mail-in ballots are perfectly okay, at least in Florida. Today, he's back to his usual claims of fraud.

Trump campaign sues Nevada over mail-in ballots, asserting 'inevitable' fraud
    Reuters, Aug 5 2020 8:47 AM

President Donald Trump's reelection campaign and the national Republican Party have sued Nevada to block a new law that will send a mail-in ballot to every registered voter ahead of November's election. The lawsuit, filed in federal court, claims the Democratic-sponsored legislation will result in "inevitable" voter fraud. Nevada is among eight states that plan to mail every voter a ballot. Election officials in most states have encouraged at-home voting as the highly contagious nature of the novel coronavirus has made voting in person a concern. Trump has repeatedly claimed that voting by mail is susceptible to large-scale fraud. Experts say voter fraud of any kind is exceedingly rare in the United States.
