Biden promises he'll pick a woman as his running mate
    Yahoo News, Mar 15 2020 9:48 PM

Joe Biden has promised he would select a woman as his running mate if he wins the Democratic presidential nomination. "I commit that I will in fact pick a woman to be Vice President," Biden said during the Democratic Presidential debate. "There are a number of women who are qualified to be President tomorrow. I would pick a woman to be my Vice President."

I have a feeling the number of Americans voting by mail will hit a record high this year.

To win the Democratic Presidential nomination, a candidate needs 1,991 pledged delegates. Biden now has 1,147 and Sanders has 861. The delegate count for four candidates who have dropped out the race: Warren 72, Bloomberg 61, Buttigieg 26 and Klobuchar 7. Tulsi Gabbard has only two delegates but she's still in the race. As they say in Hawai'i, No ke aha mai? Ua pupule?

After failing to win any states on March 3, "Super Tuesday" – not even her home state of Massachusetts – Elizabeth Warren said she was "assessing" her campaign. On March 5, she withdrew from the Presidential race. Bernie is now "assessing" his campaign. Golly gee, what could this mean?

In withdrawing from the Presidential race, Gabbard said she can best serve the country by working for people's "health and well-being" and by being ready to serve if the Hawai'i Army National Guard is activated. Yeah, and the fact she had won only two delegates had nothing to do with her decision, right?

Despite predictions that he would lose in 1948, Harry Truman defeated Thomas Dewey 49.6% to 45.1%. According to the Gallup Poll, Truman's average approval rating while he was President was 45.4%. Trump's is 40%. According to FiveThirtyEight.com, 52.1% now disapprove of Trump's job performance and 43.2% approve. (Blindly loyal Republicans likely account for all of that 43.2%.) In polls regarding head-to-head matchups, Biden has consistently led Trump by margins of 5 to 10%. Two hundred twenty-seven days till Election Day.

Donald Trump starts 2020 in the worst polling position since Harry Truman
    CNN, Mar 21 2020 9:52 AM

An NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds that former Vice President Joe Biden leads President Donald Trump 52% to 43% in a general election matchup. An average of all polls this month puts Biden's advantage at 7 points. Bernie Sanders is still running, but he has no realistic path to winning the Democratic nomination. That means that it's Biden vs. Trump. And the President starts out in a very unusual place for an incumbent: behind. Trump is the first incumbent president to be trailing at this point in the general election cycle (late March in the election year) since Harry Truman in 1948.

In 2016, college-educated whites – and especially college-educated white women – favored the Republican party. In the 2018 midterms, large numbers of them abandoned the party and voted for Democrats and independents. That trend is expected to continue in 2020. King Donald the First has lost a lot of his support and he has failed to pick up any additional support. Two hundred twenty-four days till Election Day.

Plouffe, noting Trump's "blunt force communication" via social media, is urging Biden to start posting memes, GIFs and video clips on YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok and Instagram in order to stay in the public eye. That is especially important now, as the coronavirus has shut down much of our nation.
