Twitter should close his account permanently! And Facebook removed the video where he told his supporters to "go home" and repeated the lie that he won the election in a landslide but it was "stolen" from him. His blindly loyal supporters believe his lies and he is directly responsible for today's violence. He should be in prison.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer condemned today's violence: "This will be a stain on our country not so easily washed away, the final terrible indelible legacy of the 45th President of the United States, Undoubtedly, our worst. Make no mistake, my friends, today's events did not happen spontaneously. This President bears a great deal of the blame. This mob was in good part President Trump's doing, his responsibility, his everlasting shame. Today's events certainly would have not happened without him. Now January 6 will go down as one of the darkest days of recent American history, a final warning to our nation about the consequences of a demagogic President."

Rioting. Vandalism. Police. The National Guard. Smoke grenades. Tear gas. One woman dead after being shot in the chest. Two men and a woman dead from "medical emergencies." What a sad day in the United States of America.

Donald Trump told the rioters, "You're very special. We love you." Ivanka Trump called them "American Patriots." Wow.

Ivanka, Eric and Donald Jr. are in furious damage control mode following Capitol Hill siege
Maybe the first daughter shouldn’t have called the violent protesters “American Patriots”?

Following yesterday's insurrection at the Capitol, a growing number of Cabinet members and Congressmen from both parties are calling for Trump to be impeached or be removed from office through the 25th Amendment. Several White House officials have resigned. Facebook and Instagram have suspended Trump's accounts until after Biden is inaugurated. Snapchat, Twitch and Twitter have temporarily locked Trump's accounts. And demented, deranged, delusional Donald still refuses to admit he lost the election!

Trump's years of lying led to the Capitol calamity
Daniel Dale, CNN, Jan 7 2021 2:36 PM ET

The lies have always had victims. And the liar has never much seemed to care. If Muslim Americans had to live in fear because Donald Trump wanted to rile up his rally crowds with fictional stories about Muslim disloyalty, so be it. If Americans had to get sick and die because Trump thought his campaign would benefit from deceiving them about the severity of the coronavirus pandemic, so be it.

And if, because Trump wouldn't admit he lost a fair election, police officers had to face an angry mob, elected officials had to take cover in gas masks, the international reputation of the United States had to be damaged, blue-collar workers had to pick up the pieces of a damaged Capitol and four people had to die – well, to borrow a phrase from one of Trump's Wednesday tweets, "these are the things and events that happen."

To Trump, you are a "RINO," Republican In Name Only, if you question his bonkers claims about election fraud. Trump repeated those claims in the Wednesday rally speech that preceded the mayhem at the Capitol. Media outlets fairly reported that he had incited the mob. Whether or not he eases off in the wake of the Capitol crisis – and don't bet on it – all Americans are his victims today.

Trump released a video saying he called out the National Guard as soon as the riot started. That is a lie.

Brian Philips, a vice president of Cumulus Media, which owns 416 radio stations nationwide, declared, "We need to help induce national calm now." He says he will fire any on-air hosts who persist in claiming the election was fraudulent. He should have made this decision two months ago!

Even with Donald Trump out of the White House, Republicans – with few exceptions – will continue to spread his lies and push his agenda.

False fraud claims fanned Capitol riot. Now they're fueling GOP efforts to restrict voting.
Ronald Brownstein, CNN Jan 12 2021 12:59 AM ET

Even after President Donald Trump's disproven allegations of voter fraud fueled last week's deadly assault on the US Capitol, Republicans across an array of swing states are still touting his baseless allegations to advance measures that would make it tougher to vote.

When Congress voted last week, in the immediate aftermath of the Trump-fueled riot, to finalize the Electoral College results declaring Joe Biden the winner of November's election, bipartisan majorities in both the House and Senate joined dozens of courts around the country in concluding that there was not meaningful fraud in the election. But despite those findings, Republicans in several states are moving to roll back access to mail balloting, eliminate drop boxes, toughen voter identification laws and erect other barriers to the ballot in the name of improving voter security and restoring "faith" in the outcome.

This renewed push places Republicans on a collision course with congressional Democrats, who are likely to move quickly on legislation that would expand access. It will also likely prompt a procession of legal battles between GOP states pursuing new restrictions and a Biden Justice Department likely to resist them as violations of the Voting Rights Act.

CEOs care about our nation and our democracy, even though a majority of Congressional Republicans do not. Amazon, AT&T, Comcast, Dow, Marriott, Google, Hallmark, Microsoft, Verizon, Coca-Cola, Commerce Bank and many other corporations are suspending donations to the politicians who supported Trump's baseless claims of election fraud and challenged Biden's election. Some of the corporations are halting all political donations. Good for them! Let's keep money out of politics.
