Calm ( https://www.calm.com/ ) bills itself as "the #1 app for sleep, meditation and relaxation." Calm offers relaxing music, sounds of nature, "mindfulness" programs, stretching exercises and instruction in meditation. On May 1, The Calm Channel will replace Spa on SiriusXM 68. Should we be excited? No, that would defeat the purpose, wouldn't it?

Here is a very dinky sample of what's being played on the new Calm channel. Calm plays the same artists who were heard on Spa – and Calm plays a lot of harp music and solo piano music. Too much, in fact. The music is making me drowsy. Or is that the idea?

    SiriusXM 68 – Calm

At The Cradle - Patricia Spero (1996)
    Aurora - Johannes Walter (1992)
    Beloved - Lorenza Ponce (2010)
    Chanarambie - Tim Story (1987)
Be Thou My Vision/The River Is Wide - Bronn Journey (2018)
Down To The Moon - Andreas Vollenweider (1986)
    Gabriel's Oboe - Yo-Yo Ma (2004)
    Joy - George Winston (1982)
Le Petit Sentier De La Presence - Mark Pinkus (2018)
Lost In The Woods - Alex De Grassi (1998)
    Solace - Eric Tingstad (2019)
Sounds Of Invisible Waters - Deuter (2006)
Spring Creek - Philip Aaberg (1985)
Stillness At The Center - Acoustic Ocean (2008)

I listened to the Calm channel this morning and the music is relaxing but it is also boring because most of the songs all sound the same.

The Michael Jackson Channel just played Michael's 1997 single Ghosts. It was a hit in Europe and the UK but not in the United States, perhaps because the song and the video have too many similarities with Thriller?

The Queen Channel plays every song ever recorded by Queen. Nothing else. Therefore it would be a waste of time to make a list – but I decided to waste a little bit of time and compile a sample. Here it is. Freddie Mercury recorded the piano and vocals of It's A Beautiful Day in 1980. The surviving band members completed the track and released it on the 1995 album Made In Heaven.
