Report: ISIS calls for Barron Trump's assassination
    Veuer, Nov 21 2017 3:42 PM

ISIS is calling for the assassination of President Trump’s 11-year-old son, Barron. That’s according to the Washington Free Beacon, which claims the call has come from pro-ISIS internet channels. ISIS supporters have reportedly shared a map showing where the child’s school is located and other personal information on a Telegram channel.

According to the Middle East Media Research Institute, the initial message, sent on November 21 by an ISIS supporter via Telegram, reportedly "called for the assassination of Barron Trump and shared the address and called for the backers of the terrorist organization to assassinate him." A hashtag using the words "handle the son of the mule of America" was said to be used, along with a photo of the youngest of President Trump’s children. The call for assassination has reportedly been widely spread, with a series of pro-ISIS telegram channels sharing and forwarding the post.

"Look, I'm thankful that I can continue to screw the taxpayers and the middle class, okay?"

Trump's Mar-a-Lago Thanksgiving to cost taxpayers millions of dollars
    Veuer, Nov 22 2017 3:29 PM

It'll be an expensive Thanksgiving for American taxpayers as President Trump spends the holiday at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida. Newsweek reports that a single round-trip ticket for the president to visit the posh Florida property may cost taxpayers between $2 million and $3.6 million, a total mostly made up of the costs of flying on Air Force One. Trump has taken eight trips to the so-called winter White House during his time as president and has spent 25 days there in total. By the end of this Thanksgiving holiday, that number will be 30. That means taxpayers will have spent $16 million on his trips to Florida.

'Complicit' is the word of 2017, Dictionary.com announces
New York Daily News, Nov 27 2017 2:47 PM

The word of the year is "complicit," Dictionary.com announced today. According to lexicographer Jane Solomon, searches for the word increased nearly 300 percent over the last year, due to a number of issues such as the Hollywood sexual assault scandal, the opioid crisis and Trump's ties to Russia. The site defines the word as "choosing to be involved in an illegal or questionable act, especially with others."

Supreme Court lets Trump's latest travel ban go into full effect
    Reuters, Dec 4 2017 4:47 PM

The U.S. Supreme Court today handed a victory to President Donald Trump by allowing his latest travel ban targeting people from six Muslim-majority countries to go into full effect even as legal challenges continue in lower courts. The court, with two of the nine justices dissenting, granted his administration's request to lift two injunctions imposed by lower courts that had partially blocked the ban, which is the third version of a contentious policy that Trump first sought to implement a week after taking office in January.

The high court's action means that the ban will now go fully into effect for people seeking to enter the United States from Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia and Chad. Lower courts had previously limited the scope of the ban to people without certain family or other connections to the United States. Trump's ban also covers people from North Korea and certain government officials from Venezuela, but lower courts had already allowed those provisions to go into effect.

The nine-member high court said in two similar one-page orders on Monday that lower court rulings that partly blocked the latest ban should be put on hold while appeals courts in San Francisco and Richmond, Virginia weigh the cases. Both courts are due to hear arguments in those cases this week. Two of the court's liberal justices, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor, said they would have denied the administration's request.

The ban was challenged in separate lawsuits by the state of Hawaii and the American Civil Liberties Union. Both sets of challengers said the latest ban, like the earlier ones, discriminates against Muslims in violation of the U.S. Constitution and is not permissible under immigration laws. Trump issued his first travel ban targeting several Muslim-majority countries in January, then issued a revised one in March after the first was blocked by federal courts. The second one expired in September after a long court fight and was replaced with the present version.

I agree with Pope Francis. God does not "lead us into temptation."

Pope Francis proposes change to the Lord's Prayer
New York Daily News, Dec 9 2017 10:11 AM

Pope Francis has proposed a fix to the Lord’s Prayer that’s bedeviled him for years. The pontiff told an Italian TV network Friday that he opposes the phrase "lead us not into temptation." The Pope said, "That is not a good translation. It is not God who pushes me into temptation and then sees how I fall," Francis said. A father does not do this. A father quickly helps those who are provoked into Satan's temptation."

The "Our Father" prayer, the best known in Christianity, is memorized by hundreds of millions of Catholics. The interpretation of the ancient text has been a subject of debate for centuries. Some theologians have argued that the original phrasing was lost in translation as it morphed from different languages. The prayer is a translation from the Latin Vulgate, a 4th-Century Latin translation of the Bible, which itself was translated from ancient Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic. Francis noted that France’s Catholic church had days earlier formally adopted similar language to what he proposed. "The Catholic faithful will say 'Do not let us enter into temptation,'" the church wrote.
