But I will be loading up starting at 3.50 and downward. It is my feeling that this rapid decline can not be sustained. Certainly there will be aggressive intervention if it continues. Otherwise we will absolutely sink into a recession which will completely undermine 7 years of economic healing and be an enormous set back.

Here's what I've been reading on the rapid decline.

On Wednesday stocks got crushed and officially entered a "correction," defined as a 10% drop from recent highs.

This is the second time in the past six months that this has happened — remember, stocks fell 10% in August in just a few days — and these two corrections in such a short time don't look good, historically.

Any single correction isn't, in and of itself, a problem, but the speed with which stocks dropped into correction territory almost back-to-back has been seen only three other times in the past 100 years.

And these are not years that market historians want to hear: 1929, 2000, 2008.

In an email on Wednesday, Rich Barry, floor governor at the New York Stock Exchange — citing commentary from floor legend Art Cashin — wrote (emphasis added):

Allow me to cut and paste an interesting and ominous piece from Arthur's morning comments: "Jason Goepfert, the outstanding pilot of SentimenTrader dug into his incredibly extensive files to uncover a rather rare condition. He noted that the indices have had two 10% corrections in a rather short span. That has only happened three times in the last 100 years. Unfortunately, those occurrences were in 1929, 2000 and 2008. As you may recall, those were not particularly good years for the bulls." Oh boy. Perhaps this time will be different.

I sold my final lot of siri....with 2 minutes to go. 24001 shares at 4.08. I am officially out of SIRI. Feels wierd...but i have no complaints. It was one of the best investments i ever made bar none!! Now instead of buying and holding it...i will now trade the daily fluctuations of it. It has been a long, strange, fun, depressing wild ride full of ups and downs. Glad to say...I survived it. Glad to have also come to know all you guys here. I prob wont be around as much now....but will try to periodically check in and see how the gang is doing. I wish all of you the best in life and your investments....Happy New Years!! God bless you, your families and God bless SIRI!! Cheers to you all!!

It was Waldo's call but what matters more is the other discussion. Whether what was in place in 1929, 2000, and 2008 are in place currently. Although the current market mirrors these other double correction situations, I still don't believe the current economic situation warrants such pessimism unless there are catastrophic issues hidden in the machinery as it was in 1929-2008. Although certainly possible, I don't expect this to be the case.

not sure what that means....but ok. Just seems you wanted credit for 2.75 initially...then said...it was waldo's call when the stock price began to climb...now your back to indicating it was your call. its like watching the 2 stooges.

I agree. I love how the forum has been since DM's departure. 15 days is better than nothing.

    Let's keep this place productive!

As far as the correction is concerned, it doesn't matter what any of us think. The market will do what the market will do.

Did anyone see where Wal-Mart is closing 100's of stores? I wonder what is up with that?
