Edit: IMHO, If they could get some draft picks....and provided that Farmer doesn't get to make those picks, then I think it's a smart move. The Clowns are not going anywhere this year or next and they are an "old" team...Thomas himself, is probably a little past his prime.
Edit 2: Looks like the offer was for Thomas and a 4th round pick next year for Denvers 1st and 2nd round picks next year. Browns declined.
I would have taken that deal in a heartbeat if I was the Browns...only fly in that ointment is that Farmer would be making those picks so they would basically be worthless anyhow. Of course that's an issue that can be easily rectified. If I was Haslam, I would be calling Denver on the side and saying "Listen, we'll take that deal but you have to take Farmer too"
