CRUISE SHIP CONFESSION: Top Fox News Executive Admits Lying On-Air About Obama
March 29, 2011 8:03 am ET by Eric Hananoki

In newly uncovered audio, a Fox News executive boasts that he lied repeatedly during the closing days of the 2008 presidential campaign when he speculated on-air "about whether Barack Obama really advocated socialism."

Speaking in 2009 onboard a pricey Mediterranean cruise sponsored by a right-wing college, Fox Washington managing editor Bill Sammon described his attempts the previous year to link Obama to "socialism" as "mischievous speculation." Sammon, who is also a Fox News vice president, acknowledged that "privately" he had believed that the socialism allegation was "rather far-fetched."

"Last year, candidate Barack Obama stood on a sidewalk in Toledo, Ohio, and first let it slip to Joe the Plumber that he wanted to quote, 'spread the wealth around,' " said Sammon. "At that time, I have to admit, that I went on TV on Fox News and publicly engaged in what I guess was some rather mischievous speculation about whether Barack Obama really advocated socialism, a premise that privately I found rather far-fetched."

And this is coming from a Republican tilted web site.

    Obama as progressive pragmatist

Obama has proved tough in addressing the nation’s security challenges, the authors write. | AP Ph
By MARTIN INDYK, KENNETH LIEBERTHAL and MICHAEL O'HANLON | 3/8/12 9:25 PM EST

The Republican presidential field has pilloried President Barack Obama’s foreign policy record. The candidates regularly assert that the president is too apologetic to America’s foes, too irresolute in regard to Afghanistan and now paralyzed over what to do about Iran. But are they right to attack Obama’s record as commander in chief?

True, Obama has not achieved the transformative results he promised on the 2008 campaign trail. There have been mistakes — on the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and energy policy, in particular. And big choices loom in Iran, Syria and elsewhere. So there is ample room for a foreign policy debate in this presidential campaign.

But on balance, Obama has proved tough, disciplined and, overall, reasonably successful in addressing the nation’s immediate security challenges. One might call him a reluctant realist: Holding onto his idealistic visions and pursuing them where possible but adroitly shifting to tougher measures when necessary.

Obama’s early aspirations, as reflected in his campaign and his major speeches in Prague and Cairo shortly after becoming president, were big and bold. When it came to foreign policy, he promised to refurbish America’s image abroad, especially in the Muslim world; end its involvement in two wars (but only after surging forces for the Afghanistan mission); offer an outstretched hand to Iran and even North Korea; reset relations with Russia as a step toward eradicating nuclear weapons; develop significant cooperation with China on both regional and global issues; and make peace in the Middle East. He also talked about battling global poverty and climate change.

It has not quite worked out that way. He has kept his grand visions. But as we explain in our new book, “Bending History,” he has not dwelled on them.

At times, this opens up a gap between promise and performance. Nevertheless, he has been disciplined and pragmatic — keeping Robert Gates, President George W. Bush’s defense secretary, at the Pentagon, for example; and hiring his chief rival, Hillary Clinton, at the State Department; working closely with Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and other top economic officials to cope with the urgency of the global financial crisis on taking office; tripling combat forces in Afghanistan; keeping U.S. troops in Iraq 20 months longer than originally promised; “rebalancing” toward Asia to reassure the region that the United States is reliable; and remaining resolute in the pursuit of terrorist leaders like the now late Osama bin Laden and Anwar al-Awlaki.

A Washington company is selling shooting targets featuring the faces of President Barack Obama, etc.
WASHINGTON -- A Washington company is hoping to make money off of people's frustrations with politics by selling "BastardBlaster" shooting targets, which feature the faces of President Barack Obama, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and former GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

"BastardBlasters are a FUN, FAST and EFFECTIVE way to relieve extreme political frustration!" reads the company's website, bastardblaster.com. "A BastardBlaster is a regulation clay target that's only purpose is to be completely destroyed by your method of choice. Obama, Palin, Pelosi ... they are all here & the list keeps growing. Find the one that works best for you. BastardBlasters look great on a desk or wall but even better in a THOUSAND PIECES!!!"

The site, which is run by Yipe Media Inc., features a video of a man with BastardBlaster clay targets attached to his jeans, one with Obama's face on it and another with Pelosi's face. A wooden paddle with the words "FLASH IT, BASH IT" appears and then smacks the man in the butt, smashing both of the targets into pieces. The paddle then shows the words, "HOPE & CHANGE, MY ASS!"

That video is one of a handful submitted to the website by people who have destroyed BastardBlasters in various ways. One video shows a man positioning an Obama target on the ground and then running over it with a Hummer. "That's what I wanted," the man says afterward. In another clip, some kind of explosive is shown wedged in between the Obama and Pelosi targets. It explodes, the targets shatter into pieces and a wooden sign drops down that says, "I Hate Those Bastards." In yet another video, a man is shown wearing a motorcycle helmet with a Pelosi target on it, with a sign above it that reads, "Pelosi Sucks." A wooden plank appears out of nowhere and whacks him in the head, smashing the Pelosi target.

Yipe Media launched in 2010, according to their Facebook page, and their BastardBlaster targets appear to have first gone on sale in December 2011, at a cost of $2.99 each. The website also sells t-shirts and mugs with images of Obama's, Pelosi's and Palin's faces on shooting targets.

Dan Klug, a co-creator of the BastardBlaster, told a local radio station on Wednesday that their goal is to give people "an outlet to have a little fun with."

When the radio show host said he found their venture "unsettling," Klug replied, "Anybody that wants to put some hate into it or anything like that for these people that are on there, that's them. It's not us."

    Damn Marxist President.LMFAO.

    3:08 PM – Today
Obama: 'The window for diplomacy is shrinking.'
President Barack Obama said on Wednesday the window for a diplomatic solution with Iran over its nuclear program was shrinking and he encouraged Tehran to seize the opportunity of talks to avert even worse consequences than current economic sanctions.

Obama, speaking at a news conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron, said Iran's tendency has been to stall talks with world powers.

"We will do everything we can to resolve this diplomatically but ultimately we've got to have somebody on the other side of the table who's taking this seriously and I hope that the Iranian regime understands that," Obama said.

"The window for solving this issue diplomatically is shrinking."

Last month Iran proposed a resumption of long-stalled nuclear talks with world powers -- the United States, Russia, China, France, Britain, and Germany -- known as the "P5+1."

Washington and its allies suspect Iran is seeking to develop nuclear weapons capability under the cover of a declared civilian nuclear energy program. They believe Tehran has used talks only as a time-buying tool instead of a pathway to agreement.

Iran says it is enriching uranium only for civilian purposes.

Obama said international sanctions on Iran were having significant effects on the Iranian economy and would begin to "bite" harder in the summer.

"I have sent a message very directly to (Iran) publicly that they need to seize this opportunity of negotiations with the P5+1 to avert even worse consequences for Iran in the future," Obama said.

"I am determined not simply to contain (an) Iran that is in possession of a nuclear weapon, I am determined to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon."

A Reuters/Ipsos poll Tuesday showed that 56 percent of Americans would support U.S. military action against Iran if there were evidence that Tehran is building nuclear weapons. (REUTERS)

Volcker: Just another extreme Marxist like President Obama.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...n_1345798.html
    Business News
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker said on Wednesday that Greg Smith, the former Goldman Sachs executive director who dramatically announced his resignation in a New York Times op-ed, is right that Goldman Sachs has changed for the worse over the past decade.

Volcker, who served as an economic adviser to President Obama, said at The Atlantic's Economy Summit in Washington, D.C., that when Goldman Sachs went public in 1999, it "became a trading operation," which hurt clients and the economy at large.

"That changed the mentality, I'm afraid," Volcker said about Goldman Sachs. "It's a business that leads to a lot of conflicts of interest."

Smith wrote in his op-ed on Wednesday that he is quitting because over the past 12 years, Goldman Sachs has become too concerned with maximizing profits often at the expense of its clients.

At the conference, Volcker said that Wall Street's general shift toward speculation in the early 2000s damaged the economy.

"These were brilliant years for Wall Street from one perspective," Volcker said. "Were they brilliant years for the economy? Well, there's no evidence of that."

Volcker pointed out that as banks profited, workers did not become more productive, and there was "virtually no increase" in average household income when adjusted for inflation. This led to an "imbalanced economy," he said.

The existence of $60 trillion in credit default swaps globally to insure $6 trillion of global debt during the financial crisis "suggests there was something going on here that didn’t have a connection to the real economy," Volcker said. It was "like a casino," and "when the system came under pressure, it collapsed," he said.

The languishing of the economy during the early 2000s as the financial industry profited is evidence supporting the Volcker rule, the controversial part of the Dodd-Frank financial reform legislation that prohibits banks from trading with their own money, Volcker said.

"I hope reform will make a little progress and do a little rebalancing of incentives in the financial system," Volcker said. He hopes that financial reform will spur commercial banks to return to the "old-fashioned concerns" of taking care of customer deposits, he added.

This is not the first time that Volcker has spoken out about Goldman. A 1998 New York Times story about Goldman Sachs' making millions off the Russian government included this comment: "Today's bankers often don't have long-lasting concerns about customer-client relations,'' said Volcker, who was an occasional adviser to Russian government officials. ''You just do the deal and get out.''

Majority Thinks Rush Limbaugh Should Be Fired For Sandra Fluke Comments: Poll
    Posted: 03/14/2012 8:48 am Updated: 03/14/2012 1:23 pm

A majority of Americans think Rush Limbaugh should be fired for his comments about Sandra Fluke and contraception, according to a Bloomberg poll released on Wednesday.

The poll is another piece of bad news for Limbaugh, who has not been able to shake the scandal he set off by calling Fluke a "slut" and a "prostitute." It follows another poll on Tuesday which found that just 29 percent of respondents thought his subsequent apology to Fluke was sincere. It also comes as advertisers continue to pull out of his show in droves.

The Bloomberg survey showed more than half of respondents saying that Limbaugh should be fired "solely" for his comments about Fluke. Men were almost evenly split 49-47 percent on the question, but women came down strongly for Limbaugh's dismissal, with 56 percent calling for his ouster and 39 percent saying he should stay. Moreover, almost a third of Republicans wanted him gone.

Limbaugh, for his part, has continued to brush off the furor.
