It is a fact that government agencies are essentially controlled by the industries that they are supposed to regulate. It's so common that there is a name for it - Corporate Capture. Since the only thing that corporations care about is profit, they are slow to correct problems that may decrease it. Sometimes they have to be forced when the public gets enraged.

The causes of the current infant formula shortage are another case study in corporate/government corruption.

Bill Marler is a well-known attorney who has an exclusive practice in litigation regarding food safety. His recent post lays out the details of what led to this crisis.

Here is a case study that shows, AGAIN, how capitalism and individual greed damages this country's stability.

The frenzy over high gas prices is in third gear. Citizens, always disinterested in spending time to get objective and accurate information on anything important and complex are bashing the administration, with repukes as usual feeding them innuendo and disinformation to gain political advantage.

There is massive gouging by all parties, (isn't uncontrolled capitalism great?) but there are other factors as well. This link will provide those details.

There are many alleged causes of the current surge in inflation. Some are valid, many are not. Companies are taking advantage of the confusion and rampantly gouging.

The establishment, always looking to serve itself, while ignoring working people and the middle class, is using the usual remedy and not anything that would control rapacious corporate greed.

The "little people" are always the losers. That's how capitalism works.

    edit:

For those who want a more detailed view of the causes (and possible fallout) of our current inflation pressures, this will provide it. As I say often, there is never anything simple about significant events, so when you hear any politician, especially a repuke, say "this is the cause and this is who to blame," they are trying to manipulate you. Hold them in contempt permanently.

During the height of the pandemic (so far) there were complaints of mixed messages coming from health agencies. They were mostly valid, except for those made by deniers looking to use anything to question the government's response.

The science was evolving daily and very difficult, the pace didn't always allow timely communication between individuals and agencies, and the public was rightly confused and frightened as a result.

But there was another reason - business was intensely pressuring the government to limit its health and safety recommendations because it would hurt profits. The public is always expendable.

The vicious indifference of the Rx industry to the needs of ill citizens in this country clearly shows that their greed is psychopathic.

    And, very few politicians care.

If anything, this thread is too polite to corporate greedy-bloodsuckers. Read what they think of working people, AGAIN!

Studies done over decades always show that very few people are knowledgeable about important issues that concern them or the country. They do know, however, about sports and entertainment subjects. One glaring result of this ignorance is how easily they are manipulated by disinformation and emotion.

The country is currently experiencing higher prices for many things. As people look to blame anything and anyone for this problem, there are always politicians, the wealthy and the media who tell them where to direct their ire and it is always self-serving. Doing research yourself by looking at credible sources is way too hard. People instead blame the innocent and vote accordingly.

THAT'S THE PLAN AND IT ALWAYS WORKS.

Corporations in every industry are using the concern over inflation to raise prices without need just to take advantage of the moment.

The FED is now causing harm to individuals and the country by resorting to the usual remedy for inflation - increasing unemployment. No surprise since the FED always protects business regardless of the harm they do.

A FED official who (this time) tells a different story.

Repukes and some dems have voted AGAINST lower drug pricing. Know who your enemies are by using a scalpel NOT a sledgehammer.

There are only a few dems who know how to explain and amplify what is true and actually does it.

Katie Porter is one of them and this is her effort to refute the current disinformation campaign about inflation.

The pharmaceutical industry is one of the least trusted and greediest of all. The disrespect is entirely deserved.
