Bloomberg reports Howard WILL NOT be on the iphone / itune application due to "mature" content.

They also cite no MLB or NFL due to licensing which is funny as if you read the press release on Sirius.com, they don't mention Howard at all, but do mention NFL.......

If Bloomberg picks it up; I inclined to think it's legit and newsworthy.

    This must be BS
    http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...d=aNbNLp5a12mE

This article is quoting SXM cust service as saying Howard not on iPhone app due to 'mature content'. I sure hope that's BS. That doesn't seem plausible since this is a pay service. But, I do know Apple is policing apps to keep off the porn. And, isn't Playboy channel included in this thing? It's on the internet channel lineup too, right?

I have no idea. My title was "The Long Awaited Sirius XM iPhone Application Finally Hits the App Store"

    What was wrong with that?

It would have been impossible for them to not pass Pandora on the day of the release.

Don't get me wrong. It's not like it's dead. The app is there, so they can recover. But only if they can get Howard on there, and live sports.
The release of an app alone is not going to create sustainable gains for the stock. Show me (not you personally) some figures that detail exactly how this is going to impact the financials. IMO you need to wait to see the actual impact on the financials or take rate for the subs. And even then, it's going to take a couple quarters showing sustained growth, and revenues from the mobile product for Wall Street to appreciate SIRI and trust its stability and growth potential.

The problem is the recent volatility and dirt cheap share price has made it overly attractive to the day trading crowd. It trades largely on emotion, speculation, and to a certain extent is capped by these traders. Either they got in very low and are playing the swings up and down, or they got in high and are terrified and looking for the exit as soon as the price appreciates to their buy in levels. I reference the Yahoo boards, which we all know are full of idiocy, but they get a lot more foot traffic than these boards. Stop in there for a minute and watch the sentiments of the "investors". Some people just have no business being in the market. Some people actually were expecting the share price to jump to $1 today.... a dollar. Imagine their collective shock this morning.

I agree with everyone. Leaving Howard off the table was a huge missed opportunity. Its not exactly clear particularly because he is already streamed over the online players. At the same time, I'm sure they had legitimate reasons to do so (contract negotiations, revenue share deals, alternate apps, etc.) and reasons for the lack of transparency. And when it comes to sports, I think its smart to look before you leap. Assuming the leagues would even agree to the stream of games over the internet... Wouldn't it be smart to gauge the mobile market and interest in these channels before starting in potentially expensive negotiations? Additional revenue > Cost to get mobile rights? We're not a cash cow here, we're trying to get our footing and dig out of a hole.

Joined this site in hopes of gaining some insight into the future of Sirius XM. Disappointed to see that this site is full of very biased very blind optimists chasing nothing more than a loser penny stock. Wake up people. Sirius XM is a loser. It always has been. And it continues to demonstrate its incompetence.

Oh I would never say that not including Howard in the app was a positive move for the pps, but I would also say that I don't think I would have delayed the app because Howard's contract negotiations were not complete. From a business perspective, the app had to get released. You have to do what you say or you cannot build trust in the market.

We are missing Howard, but are we missing the point?

There approx 15 mil paying SXM subs
Lets just 3.5 mil are Howard base (those that bought service because of him)
So he has a approx a 20% pull through. Big I agree.

So there are approx 20 mil iphones/itouch in U.S.
Lets just estimate 20% of those will never subscribed or include current SXM subs. Leaves 16 mil i's left and
20% pull through for Howard is to high, as many fans are subscribers following him now Lets give him a 10% pull through.

That leaves approx 14.4 mil iphones/itouches to go after without Howard.

Not having Howard contracted for the roll out of the app definitely not a good PR move, but from a business perspective. I would focus on the 14.4 mil I's.
