Should. I set them on dash boards, in the rear package shelf under a carpet looking up through the rear glass of a Mustang, and have had them in the travel trunks of Gold Wing motor cycles looking...
I have the lifetime sub on a old 2003 SkyFi, used it in police cars, personal cars, motorcycles, a trike, and it still works. I had a second one on a family plan so I could leave one for my Wife ......
They do it because I might turn mine on after they just told you ... and then I'll know ... and so it goes.

I've had my life subbed receiver need refreshing after long periods of no use when I was spending a lot of time in the hospital. I keep the number in my cell phone with the receiver number noted.
Where is the antenna? If in a window with exposure to the south it should pick up.
It just dies when the free period dies unless you continue it.
