The latest gloomy numbers: 98,429 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 3,387 deaths. The death toll in the United States is now 12. In Washington state, where 11 have died, Kaiser Permanente Health Research Institute will begin testing a new vaccine which is similar to the vaccine for the Zika virus. The testing will take 14 months. My question is: How many people will die of COVID-19 during those 14 months?

King Donald the First has a galaxy-sized ego and believes everything is about him. Everything – even the COVID-19 virus. Yes, indeed. King Donald insists he (apparently all by himself) has the coronavirus under control in the United States but those darned news outlets, which he calls "the enemy of the American people," are exaggerating the danger in order to make him look bad and get him out of office.
Frustration inside White House over mixed coronavirus messaging
NBC News, Mar 8 2020 6:25 PM
White House officials are growing increasingly frustrated in what they see as President Donald Trump's consistent bids to downplay the severity of the quickly-spreading coronavirus outbreak, a tendency that has led to a clash in messaging with public health officials. Those mixed signals were on display today as Tony Fauci, the top infectious disease doctor at the National Institutes of Health, warned the elderly and medically vulnerable to avoid large crowds and not to take long trips or cruises and Surgeon General Jerome Adams told the public to be prepared for more cases and fatalities. But the message Sunday morning from Trump on Twitter was praise for his administration's response, which he called a "perfectly coordinated and fine tuned plan," and blame for the media, which he said was "doing everything possible to make us look bad." White House officials acknowledge Trump is simply not on the same wavelength as his team but say there isn't much they can do to change his public tone.

"The coronavirus is contained." Wrong. "The number of cases is going down." Wrong. "We'll have a vaccine soon." Wrong. "I have a 'hunch' the death rate is less than 3.4%." Wrong. "The news media are politicizing the coronavirus to try to get me out of office." Wrong. When our nation is facing a health crisis, we need a leader. Instead we have a liar.
