After getting kicked out of Jesuit High School for his heroin addiction, Malcolm John Rebennack performed with various bands in New Orleans bars and clubs, worked as an A&R man at Ace Records and spent two years in prison for dealing drugs and running a brothel. In the 1960s he was one of the Los Angeles session musicians known collectively as The Wrecking Crew and in 1980 he wrote and recorded the original "Love that chicken from Popeyes" jingle.

Another rapper has died by gunfire. How many does this make? In 2016, Tre' Da Kid (Edward Seay) was named America's best freestyle rapper in Verizon's nationwide rap contest, which featured more than 8,000 entrants. He got a recording contract and released Run It with TK Kravitz in 2017.

Wittliff wrote the screenplays for Raggedy Man, Country, Barbarosa, Honeysuckle Rose, Red Headed Stranger, The Perfect Storm, The Black Stallion and Legends Of The Fall. Wittliff was also an accomplished photographer, producer and director. In 1964, using money from his poker winnings, he and his wife founded Encino Press in Austin. They published many books about Texas and the Southwest.

Senegal's name was misspelled Sinegal on a passport and he decided keeping the misspelled name would be easier than getting a new passport. He released several albums and played on hundreds of recordings by Joe Tex, Lee Dorsey, Paul Simon, Slim Harpo, Barbara Lynn, Allen Toussaint, Clifton Chenier, Buckwheat Zydeco and other artists. Senegal was inducted into the Louisiana Blues Hall Of Fame in 1999.
