The news media thread
The news media no longer simply report the news. Many times they are the news. This thread is the place where we -- not just me -- can post news about the news media. For starters, let's focus on Fox News political commentator and conspiracy theorist Sean Patrick Hannity:

Colin Kaepernick lands the cover of GQ in magazine's first 'Citizens of the Year'
Mashable, Nov 13 2017 12:25 PM
When Colin Kaepernick took a knee in protest of police brutality, it sparked a national conversation, one that has blackballed him from the NFL but is still echoing strong, as evidenced by GQ magazine, which has named the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback sone of its first "Citizens of the Year." The magazine invited Kaepernick's friends, mentors and former teammates to shed light on why the purpose of his protest should not be diluted over time. Kaepernick is joined by Gal Gadot, Kevin Durant and Stephen Colbert as "Citizens of the Year."

Donald Trump, Bill Cosby, Roger Ailes, Roy Moore, Al Franken, John Lasseter, Bill O'Reilly, Russell Simmons, Jeffrey Tambor, Glenn Thrush, Raul Bocanegra.......every day seems to bring new reports of groping and sexual harassment. But, this being a news media thread, we'll focus on PBS interviewer and CBS morning show co-anchor Charlie Rose. Oops -- make that former PBS interviewer and CBS morning show co-anchor Charlie Rose.

Let's have a show of hands: How many of us are getting weary of hearing a steady stream of accusations of groping and sexual harassment against media people and politicians? Three days ago CNN listed all the media people who have been accused: Matt Lauer, Bill O'Reilly, Roger Ailes, Michael Oreskes, Matt Halperin, Glenn Thrush, Charlie Rose, John Lasseter, Garrison Keillor and many others:

Bill O'Reilly, Fox News sued for disparaging female accuser
The Hollywood Reporter, Dec 4 2017
Fox News and Bill O'Reilly have been hit with a lawsuit by former junior producer Rachel Bernstein over disparaging press statements made in the wake of a New York Times story revealing the former television star had paid $13 million to five women to settle sexual harassment claims. Bernstein is suing for breach of contract and defamation. She's represented by the same attorneys who represented Gretchen Carlson in the retaliation lawsuit against Fox News.

PBS temporarily replaces Charlie Rose with Christiane Amanpour
The Wrap, Dec 5 2017 11:13 AM
PBS will replace Charlie Rose with Christiane Amanpour on an interim basis after shelving the former’s long-running news show amid an ongoing sexual misconduct scandal. Amanpour will air on New York’s PBS station beginning Monday before rolling out on PBS stations December 11. The program will continue to air on weekdays on CNN International. PBS cut ties with Rose last month after multiple women accused him of unwanted sexual contact. Following the accusations, the veteran broadcaster was also fired from CBS This Morning.

Hannity slams Obama’s 'sick' obsession with Trump
Geobeats, Dec 9 2017 9:04 AM
FOX News host Sean Hannity on Thursday lashed out at Barack Obama following the former president’s recent remarks in Chicago, which were largely interpreted as being directed towards President Trump. Obama is "obviously sick, pathetic and twisted in this obsession with President Trump. It’s kind of like everybody in the media," Hannity said on his show. "Every single chance Obama gets, whether it’d be here at home, overseas, it doesn’t matter. He’s trashing, trying to undermine the president." Obama on Tuesday warned against staying complacent in the face of rising nativism, citing the rise of Hitler as an example of what can happen if democracy is not defended.
