Egan, Gerry Rafferty, Roger Brown, Rab Noakes and Iain Campbell formed Stealers Wheel in 1972 in Paisley, Scotland. There were several lineup changes before the band broke up in 1975. In May 1973, they reached #6 on the Hot 100 and #8 in the UK with Stuck In The Middle With You. In March 1974, they got to #29 on the Hot 100 and #25 in the UK with Star. Three of the later members formed a new short-lived Stealers Wheel in 2008.

Loggins wrote and recorded Pieces Of April for his 1972 debut album Personal Belongings. A version by Three Dog Night reached #19 on the Hot 100 in January 1973. In December 1984, Anne Murray and Dave Loggins had a number-one country hit with Nobody Loves Me Like You Do.
