I did the math. The population of the United States is now 329,450,000. To make up a trillion-dollar deficit, each of us – every man, woman and child – would have to pay $3,035. And that's just the federal deficit. Our national debt is now $22,030,000,000,000!
Under Trump, the deficit has ballooned, exploding a GOP myth
Julian Zelizer, CNN, Aug 24 2019
The Congressional Budget Office has predicted the federal deficit could reach $1 trillion by the 2020 fiscal year. Once again, President Trump has exposed a myth in American politics. That myth? That Republicans are the party of fiscal responsibility. He is just the latest Republican President to demonstrate this. His drive for corporate tax cuts, which received strong Republican support, has blown a huge hole in the federal ledger. Tea Party Republicans once railed against President Barack Obama's spending habits. As the deficit has grown under Trump, however, they've suddenly changed their tune.
As we approach the 2020 election, we will likely hear the familiar refrain from Republicans claiming their party will keep the government's books balanced while "socialist" Democrats will wreak havoc on the nation's financial stability. Republican Presidents have not done a good job keeping the books balanced. If voters are looking for a President who will balance the budget, recent history suggests that a Democratic President might be the better bet.

In a race for Governor or Mayor or County Supervisor or City Councilman, whoever gets the most votes wins the election – but in a Presidential contest, whoever gets the most votes for can lose the election. It's happened five times. The will of the majority (or plurality) was disregarded. Welcome to the 18th century.
Ocasio-Cortez weighs in again on the Electoral College
Geobeats, Aug 25 2019 11:48 AM
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has responded to criticism of her call to abolish the Electoral College. "I see Fox News is big mad about abolishing the Electoral College," she tweeted Friday. "If the GOP were the 'silent majority' they claim, they wouldn't be so scared of a popular vote. They know they aren't the majority. They rely on establishing minority rule for power. This common claim about 'if we don’t have the Electoral College then a handful of states will determine the presidency' is BS. It’s the EC itself that breaks down power by state, popular vote decentralizes it.The EC makes it so a handful of states DO determine elections." Ocasio-Cortez was doubling down on an argument she made on social media Monday, saying, in part, "The Electoral College effectively weighs white voters over voters of color, as opposed to a 'one person, one vote' system where all our votes are counted equally."

What's worse than a hurricane? A radioactive hurricane. Hey, Donald, you've seen those tv commercials Phil Swift does for Flex Tape? Maybe we could halt a hurricane's movement by wrapping it in 5,000,000 feet of Flex Tape. That would be much safer than dropping a nuclear bomb into it.

Emperor Trump would never say anything negative about Vladimir Putin, his BFF. Trump wants Russia to rejoin the G7, making it a G8. He repeated the untrue Russian propaganda that Putin "outsmarted" and "embarrassed" President Obama. And who was responsible for Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014? According to Emperor Trump, it was Obama. Trump's BFF Vladimir had nothing to do with it. Hаш президент предатель и сочувствующий России!

The question I was asked most today by fellow World Leaders, who think the USA is doing so well and is stronger than ever before, is, "Mr. President, why does the American media hate your country so much? Why are they rooting for it to fail?"
10:30 AM · Aug 25, 2019
Let's analyze this inane assertion by the orange-skinned Tweeter-In-Chief. First, Trump has no right to think of himself as a "World Leader" – or even a "world leader." Second, "media" is plural, not singular. Third, American media do not hate our country. Fourth, they are not "rooting for it to fail." Fifth, no world leaders think the US is "doing so well." At least none has said so publicly. Sixth, while it's possible Trump was asked those questions at the G7 summit, there is no confirmation from any of the other attendees. Considering Trump has told more than 12,000 lies since he's been in office, he's likely lying about those "most-asked" questions as well.

Trump's "true colors" are orange skin, a black heart, a love of green money and a hatred of anyone with brown skin.
Analysis: Trump shows voters his true colors
Stephen Collinson, CNN, August 27 2019
President Donald Trump tried to explain his agitating approach to life, politics and the rest of the world in a flash of impatience during a blustery news conference in France. "It's the way I negotiate. It's done me well over the years and it's doing even better for the country, I think," he said.
Trump's comment encapsulated the untamed personality that his fellow world leaders are beginning to get used to and work around after his 31 months in office. But in a deeper sense, Trump also shed light on fundamental judgments about his tenure that voters must make before the 2020 election. His political future could rest on whether a sufficient number of Americans decide that the Trumpian tumult of his first term expresses their frustration with the Washington establishment and has delivered the wealth, peace and patriotic pride that he promised in the 2016 campaign.
One big risk is that a majority of voters may simply be exhausted by the cacophony of the Trump era that was on display at the weekend at the G7 summit in France and involves chaos, head-spinning policy reversals, lying as a matter of course, perpetual cultural warfare and widening national divides. In other words, is all Trump, all the time, "doing even better for the country" as the President insists? His showing in France helps clarify the choice for those voters who are undecided about Trump and adds to a mountain of evidence about his character and fitness for office.

In 2014, Trump said Putin "contacted" him when the Miss America pageant was being held in Russia. "He was so nice,"Trump declared. In 2015, Trump told CNN, "I get along with him fine" and told MSNBC that Putin is "a leader, unlike what we have in this country." In 2016, Trump defended Putin after a British investigation concluded Putin "probably approved" the killing of a former spy. Trump also praised Putin for sending him a "very nice" Christmas card. In 2017, Trump contradicted the unanimous conclusions of our intelligence agencies by declaring, "Putin said Russia didn't meddle in our election and I believe him."
When Putin removed hundreds of US personnel from our embassy in Moscow, Trump was not upset. He thanked Putin for helping the US reduce expenses. Then are the meetings he's had with Putin. He has gone to great lengths to ensure we never learn what they discussed. If the Trump Tower Moscow had been built, Trump would have given – given! – the penthouse suite to Putin. Now Trump wants Russia to rejoin the G-7. As for Russia's illegal occupation of, and annexation of, Crimea in 2014, Trump claims that was Obama's fault. Why is Trump so nice to Putin? There is only one possible answer: он предатель и русский сочувствующий.

Tropical Storm Dorian has been upgraded. It is now a hurricane with 75-mph winds and is expected to hit eastern Puerto Rico in the next few hours. By the time it reaches Florida, winds will be 115 mph. The orange-skinned Tweeter-In-Chief, who has no compassion and no empathy for anyone other than himself, today called the San Juan Mayor "incompetent," Puerto Rico and its politicians "corrupt" and the island's political system "broken." The world's most pompous, narcissistic, egotistical buffoon then bragged, "I'm the best thing that's ever happened to Puerto Rico!"
