Attorneys general from 47 states are concerned about Facebook's "size and influence in controlling information while stifling competition, pricing and service quality." Gee, we could say the same thing about the pharmaceutical industry!

Facebook's News Tab will display clickable headlines from around 200 news sources, including NBC, Breitbart, BuzzFeed, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and Wall Street Journal. Facebook will pay many of the publishers for their content. The News Tab will supposedly "combat the spread of fake news" – and Mark Zuckerberg probably also hopes it will benefit the company as it undergoes three antitrust investigations by the Federal Trade Commission, the House Judiciary Committee and Attorneys General from 47 US states and territories. "Here are the news headlines we want you to see." Yeah, pardon my skepticism.

Blindly loyal members of the Cult of Donald Trump are using fake Facebook accounts with fake names and fake pictures to create pro-Trump groups. Their goal, obviously, is to get the fake President re-elected by any means possible.

China's President is Xi Jinping. That's his name. It makes no sense to try to translate his name into another language. It's Xi Jinping. Period. And it really made no sense for Facebook to translate his name as "Shithole." They could always claim it's pronounced "Shi-tō'-lē" in Chinese and doesn't mean anything bad in that language.

King is well-known for writing horror and fantasy – but the horror and fantasy on Facebook got to be too much for him. He wrote on Twitter, "I'm quitting Facebook. Not comfortable with the flood of false information that's allowed in its political advertising, nor am I confident in its ability to protect its users' privacy."

QAnon, according to Wikipedia, "is a far-right conspiracy theory alleging that a cabal of Satan-worshiping pedophiles running a global child sex-trafficking ring is plotting against President Donald Trump, who is battling against the cabal, and that Trump is planning a day of reckoning known as 'The Storm' in which thousands of members of the cabal will be arrested. No part of the theory is based on fact." No wonder Donald Trump loves QAnon!

The FTC approved Facebook's purchase of Instagram and WhatsApp – and now the FCC is upset that Facebook owns Instagram and WhatsApp. Go figure!
US government, states bring antitrust action against Facebook
HuffPost, Dec 9 2020 3:07 PM ET
Federal regulators today sued to force a breakup of Facebook as 48 states and districts accused the company in a separate lawsuit of abusing its market power in social networking to crush smaller competitors. The landmark antitrust lawsuits were announced by the Federal Trade Commission and New York Attorney General Letitia James.
The FTC said Facebook has engaged in a "a systematic strategy" to eliminate its competition, including by purchasing smaller up-and-coming rivals such as Instagram in 2012 and WhatsApp in 2014. James echoed that in her press conference, saying Facebook "used its monopoly power to crush smaller rivals and snuff out competition, all at the expense of everyday users." The FTC specifically asked a court to force Facebook to sell off its Instagram and WhatsApp messaging services.

This is a major change. From now on, we'll be getting our fake news, conspiracy theories, threats, insults and incitements to violence from Meta, not Facebook. I feel so much better now. On December 1, the company's stock symbol will change from FB to MVRS (for "Metaverse").

Facebook, Twitter and Instagram suspended Donald Trump's accounts in January because he spread lies and incited a deadly riot and they feared more violence was possible. Donald Trump then sued Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for suspending his accounts. Trump cried "Censorship!" and said his First Amendment free-speech rights were violated – but the First Amendment applies to government entities, not private companies. Now the Justice Department is getting involved.

More than 50 fake, AI-created movie posters haverecently been posted on Facebook. All the (fake) movies are remakes, sequels or live-action versions of animated films: Shrek, Tangled, Brave, Aladdin, Frozen, Popeye, Grease, Home Alone, Lizzie McGuire, Mamma Mia!, Monsters Inc., Ice Age, Christmas With The Kranks, The Mighty Ducks, The Good Dinosaur, The Princess Diaries, The Three Caballeros, Three Men & A Baby, Pirates Of The Caribbean and many more.
Most of the fake posters have "2025" in parentheses at the bottom. Many have misspellings, e.g., MonsterInc 2, A Charhae Brown Christmas, The Three Cabaleros, Little House On The Pratrie. One poster of a "new"(and fake) Charlie Brown Christmas includes two Snoopys and three Lucys in the background! A poster of a (fake) live-action Flintstones movie shows Adam Sandler as Fred Flintstone standing next to a Wilma whose hair is black, not red! A poster of a (fake) The Sound Of Music 2 (2025) shows Julie Andrews (who is 89) and Christopher Plummer (who died in 2021).
Very few people point out that the posters are fake and created with AI. The majority of the comments are from gullible schmucks who say they're looking forward to the movie or gullible schmucks who say they like the original movie and it doesn't need a remake or sequel.
Facebook is now filled with fake news stories, fake photos, fake videos and fake movie posters. Does Facebook no longer have fact checkers to remove the fake posts and ban the people who post them?

I just saw on Facebook a fake poster of a Disney live-action Hercules movie, supposedly coming in 2027. It shows a cartoon drawing of Hercules surrounded by six women. At the bottom are pictures of the supposed "stars": Lizzo, Cynthme (Who? It's a fake name), Beyoncé, Sza (with black hair), Sza (with blonde hair) and Halle Bailey.
In 2022, Disney announced plans for a live-action Hercules to be directed by Joseph and Anthony Russo, who have directed two Captain America films and two Avengers films and have two more Avengers films in production. As for Hercules, no script has been completed and no actors have been cast. The movie likely will never be made.

Four more fake, error-filled, AI-created movie posters on Facebook today: "MONSTER 3 INC 3," "Disney Encanto 2, JULY 2025." (July 2025 has passed and there is no Encanto 2), "Princess and the Frog 2, JUST THE IN THEATERS 2026" and "Forrest Gump 2025" with a cast that includes "Gary Sinises" – his name is Sinise – and "Robin Kowigh" (Who? It's a fake name). And hundreds of gullible schmucks respond to these fake posters with "Can't wait" or "Looking forward to it." Sheesh!

A story on Facebook says Bob Seger will be the halftime performer at this year's Super Bowl. Another story on Facebook says Micky Dolenz will be the halftime performer at this year's Super Bowl. Both stories have a link to click on – and I would not advise to anyone to click on it. Both stories are fake – and this year's Super Bowl was seven months ago!
