There will likely be several lawsuits seeking to bar Donald Trump from ever again holding public office. The lawsuits would not be necessary if Congress would do its job and uphold the Constitution – but Congressional Retrumplicans do not care about the Constitution, not when it concerns Donald Trump.

Trump is already facing a lawsuit to stop his 2024 campaign
 Bloomberg, Jan 6 2023

Donald Trump is facing the first legal challenge to his eligibility to run for President in 2024 since declaring his candidacy, only weeks after a congressional committee investigating the US Capitol attack suggested he be disqualified from ever holding office again. The lawsuit was filed today in federal court in Florida by John Anthony Castro, an attorney in Texas. Castro is seeking the Republican nomination for 2024 and has registered his campaign with the Federal Election Commission. He’s asking a judge to declare Trump Constitutionally ineligible to hold office and to order a halt to any campaigning and fundraising. Section 3 of the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution bars someone from continuing to hold public office if they engage in insurrection.

Leter from Eileen McDargh Evans of Dana Point in today's Los Angeles Times:

"The attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, was a sickening display of arrogance and greed on the part of then-President Trump. The election of Kevin McCarthy as speaker, turning our nation over to a handful of ultra-right-wing Republican House members, shows the same thirst for power at any cost. Our democracy is in deep fanger. The election in 2024 is our only hope of saving the United States."

I violated the law, I violated the Constiution, I violated the Presidential oath of office, I praised dictators and alienated our allies, I spread lies about voter fraud, I incited a deadly riot and I was impeached twice. And, oh yes, I'm running again. Why shouldn't I?"

A January 13 WPA Intelligence poll of likely voters shows Biden would beat Trump 49% to 41% in 2020. If DeSantis is the Republican candidate, he would beat Biden 45% to 42%. A Suffolk University poll in December showed similar results and also showed DeSantis would beat Trump in a Republican primary, 56% to 33%. Trump, with his galaxy-sized ego, does not want to hear things like this. He's starting to make vague threats.

For many years the question was asked, "Is America ready for a female President?" The answer is yes. In 2016, Hillary Clinton beat Donald Trump by 2,868,686 votes, a margin of 2.1%, but the outdated relic known as the Electoral College awarded the Presidency to the loser. Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley is expected to announce her candidacy on February 15.

We know Donald Trump loves to punish his enemies and political opponents and reward his cronies and blindly loyal supporters. He denounces Republicans who don't worship him as he believes he should be worshipped. He campaigns against them when they're running for election or re-election. He pardons convicted criminals who were loyal to him and he refers to the rioters who obeyed his command to "fight like hell" as "patriots."

Charles Koch's political network has hundreds of wealthy donors. Donald Trump, on the other hand, has been losing wealthy donors. Koch network plans to back a Republican other than Trump in the 2024 Presidential primary
 CNN, Feb 5 2023 7:32 AM EST

The deep-pocketed network associated with billionaire Charles Koch is preparing to throw its money and weight behind a single Republican candidate in the 2024 Presidential primary in a move that could significantly reshape the GOP field. Americans for Prosperity Action, the main political arm of the Koch network, "is prepared to support a candidate in the Republican Presidential primary who can lead our country forward and who can win," Emily Seidel, the CEO of Americans for Prosperity and a top adviser at AFP Action, wrote in a memo released today. The memo does not mention Donald Trump but an official with AFP Action confirmed to CNN that the network is not planning to support the former President’s White House bid.

DeSantis, Trump dominate potential 2024 Republican Presidential field in new poll
 Bloomberg, Feb 9 2023

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump are the clear top preferences among Republican voters for the 2024 GOP Presidential nomination, with no other potential candidate generating much support, according to a Monmouth University poll released today. DeSantis and Trump both garnered 33% when Republican and GOP-leaning US voters were asked who they want to see as the party’s nominee. In a hypothetical head-to-head match-up, DeSantis out-polled Trump 53% to 40%
