Hmmmm, Thanks Tripp! It's not great news but it's good. :)
MLB should have given Sirius subscribers full access. With this economy MLB should have lent a helping hand to not only SiriusXM but 19mil plus consumers. Could only promote their product. Thumbs down to MLB
Not really. It sucks. And I hate how this press release was handled. It's like they trying to hide what happened. Stupid. They should always be upfront because the media will cover what happened with negotiations with MLB anyway. I had to read that release several times, looking for the important facts....weren't there. STUPID STUPID STUPID!
MLB squeezed SIRI and it sucks. No other way to spin it. It's gonna piss off Sirius subs too. SIRI is going to have to simplify this XM vs Sirius mess. It is going to hold them back until they do. Damn.
mlb is trying to gank the sirius subs to get their at bat 2009.....well i guess i u have an iphone ur still ok, you can have sirius and mlb.....but pay for 2 services instead of just sirius......
on the MM 's 100 to 500 block shares signals...which was the one to drive the price up? should we change the attack from 100 shares at $2 to a different ##?
it wont matter. All our trades will show up on nasdaq and be combined.
Anyone,
I do not understand. If MM are paid based on volume or number of transactions executed, would they not benefit from releasing this stock so to speak and letting it trade fairly? With a large price jump and some exitement I am sure the volume would improve (more money in their pockets), and also with the pullbacks that are associated with larger moves (also more money for them) or am I just plain wrong?
The MM's also trade their own accounts and can make alot more money by trading than just getting transaction fees on volume.
MLB is the main problem, because they probably wanted HUGE $ to permit SIRI to expand coverage to include all 19 million subs. BUT....what pisses me off is the way SIRI issued the press release...as if everyone's a moron and isn't going to see through it as a failure to get a positive negotiated outcome. And, the stock is headed south now as a result of this press release. The timing is too coincidental to be related to anything else. I'm sure it will bounce back, but I am so sick of these PR geniuses at these public companies that issue inane press releases as if they are going to slip one by 100 million people and the media. MORONS. It always bites them in the ass too. So sick of it.
The release should have said, at the top, that 'after negotiations, we are happy to report that XM customers will enjoy...........but, unfortunately, we were unable to secure a deal to expand coverage to our valuable Sirius subscribers at this time. We are working hard to integrate our sat network as a result of the merger....blah blah blah.....'
C'mon....why not be UP FRONT! and then add the spin.
There is really is no volume on this decline. I've added here.
Paratrooper and others,
Sorry if this sounds a silly question coming from a novice, but what would we accomplish by putting in 100 shares for sale at a high price?
I trust this group so I already put 100 at $1.29 (scottrade doesn't let me go any higher).
would appreciate if someone can explain how it works.. Tried to search the thread for an explanation but couldn't find it.
This failure to secure a good MLB deal is a potential problem from a market perception point of view. Right or wrong, this points to potential problems with the merger and future content negotiations with celebrities and sports, etc. If SIRI had negotiated a fair deal with MLB, it would have been awesome. Failure to do so is going to be detrimental in the short term, until something significantly POSITIVE is announced by the company. The new iPhone app will be a big positive, but that may not really hit home until they announce additional subs as a result. I personally think they will prevail, but this is a setback at a time when SIRI didn't need more setbacks.
raising the ask mathematically improves the odds of it going higher - but not when the MM's are using millions of shares to block and manipulate for a living - it's not likely we can move it ourselves....
This said - when you're close to a wall - say .36 - if enough people drop in higher on the ask side - you could theoretically walk the SP higher... but the effect today was mainly for humor/entertainment purposes....
That's why I called it psychological warfare - those bastards sit there and watch everything coming across - so my own intent was to throw stones at the fictional dragon.... (the manipulators)
Besides that - who knows - if enough of us did it at once - maybe someone big sitting on the sidelines would think something was coming (news/event) and panic.... personally anything I can do to panic a short seller is worth the effort - since the MM's and shorts deserve some payback for our continued frustration...
Just think of it as throwing rocks at the enemy.......
Sooner or later - we WILL be climbing up into the dollar ranges - I am convinced it's GOING TO HAPPEN.....
My main job on here is to be the Sirius Buzz version of Glen Beck.... I occasionally let my emotions lash out at the beast we're up against - just laugh at me - keep faith - and have fun while we wait for the REAL numbers to show up....
Brandon,

Thanks that was very informative...
Why would the MM want to hold the share price down? I often see people in this forum complaining of manipulation at a certain price point. (.36) yesterday and today..
Wow, I guess I should cancel my lifetime Sirius subscription and get a lifetime XM subscription with the best of Sirius. What a bunch of bullshit!
on a positive note - I just sold off my entire holding of WGPWF.... have some cash to smile about today.... now I get to watch it drop over the next month or so until I reenter in the teens again....
With SIRI - frustration is really futile - it's just a waiting game for all us retail investors.... while we're at the whims of the big guys...MM's....
Once the right things fall into place - we'll all be happier as it shoots skyward...
And I will be extremely happy when the core holding I have in SIRI avg at .13 hits 1.00....
