Delusional Donald declared that it was "statistically impossible" for him to lose the election – oh, really? – and said there would be "wild" protests in Washington DC on January 6, the day Congress meets to count the electoral votes. Sure enough, the pro-Trump group Women For America First has applied for a permit to hold a demonstration on that day in Freedom Plaza. As for Trump, he's been busy abusing the power of pardon granted to the President by Article II of the Constitution. He is rewarding all his cronies and associates who have been 100% loyal to him. It matters not what crimes they were convicted of.

Trump's abuse of the Presidential power to pardon is escalating. He is rewarding all his cronies and associates for their loyalty to him, regardless of what crimes they committed. Trump has absolutely no shame, no morals and no ethics. None at all.

President Donald Trump today announced 26 new pardons, including ones for longtime ally Roger Stone and former campaign chairman Paul Manafort. The pardons extend Trump's streak of wielding his clemency powers for criminals who are loyalists, well-connected or adjacent to his family. While all Presidents issue controversial pardons at the end of their terms, Trump appears to be moving at a faster pace than his predecessors, demonstrating little inhibition at rewarding his friends and allies using one of the most unrestricted powers of his office.
The pardons of Manafort and Stone reward two of the most high-profile and widely condemned former advisers of the President, both of whom were indicted by special counsel Robert Mueller, went to trial and were convicted by juries of multiple crimes. Democratic Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon called the pardons "just the tip of the iceberg of the damage Donald Trump will do to our democracy in his remaining days as President. Every Senate Republican who has enabled his escalating abuse of power for the last four4 years is responsible for this." Democratic Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut tweeted, "It's time to remove the pardon power from the Constitution."

CNN's Chris Cuomo notes that Trump tried to paint himself as a "law and order" President but this week's pardons show he is completely against law and order. Cuomo denounced Trump for refusing to help the unemployed and refusing to help coronavirus victims but choosing to help "the worst people," the criminals who remained loyal to him. "He has no integrity. He left the Republican party in shambles," Cuomo said.

In September, a Pennsylvania election worker was fired after he discarded nine military mail-in ballots. By announcing that seven of those votes were for Trump, US Attorney David Freed – a Trump appointee – put the idea in Trump's head that the entire election will be rigged against him. Trump lost but it was a fair election. There was no voter fraud. None. But delusional Donald still refuses to admit he lost. In a tweet today, he urged Republicans, "Don't let the Democrats steal the Presidential Election." In another tweet, he said Republicans "must FIGHT the crooked Presidential election. We won big!" No, Donald, you did not win big. You lost. You are a loser! L-O-S-E-R. Loser!

GOP senator to delay affirming Biden victory by forcing votes on Electoral College results

Missouri Republican Senator Josh Hawley said today he will object when Congress counts the Electoral College votes next week, which will force lawmakers in both the House and Senate to vote on whether to accept the results of President-elect Joe Biden's victory. Hawley is the first Senator to announce plans to object to the results, which is significant because both a House member and senator are required to mount an objection when Congress counts the Electoral College votes on January 6.
The objection will not change the outcome of the election, only delaying the inevitable affirmation of Biden's victory in November over President Donald Trump. Democrats will reject any objections in the House and multiple Republican Senators have argued against an objection that will provide a platform for Trump's baseless conspiracy theories claiming the election was stolen from him. Hawley's objection, which other Senators may still join, will also put many of his Senate Republican colleagues in a difficult political position, forcing them to vote on whether to side with Trump or with the popular will of the voters.
