Today, delusional Donald tweeted that Biden lost the election by "hundreds of thousands of legal votes" and therefore will be an "illegitimate President." One hundred six House Republicans have filed a brief in support of the Texas lawsuit seeking to overturn the election results. CNN political correspondent Abby Phillip is outraged by the Republicans' attempts to overturn the results of a fair election. "You're either on the side of Donald Trump or you're on the side of the Constitution of the United States," she said. It is painfully obvious that the majority of Republicans have sold their souls. They are blindly loyal members of the Cult of Donald Trump and no longer support democracy.
States assail 'bogus' Texas bid to overturn election at Supreme Court
Reuters, Dec 10 2020 9:42 AM
Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin today urged the Supreme Court to reject a lawsuit filed by Texas and backed by President Donald Trump seeking to undo President-elect Joe Biden's election victory, saying the case has no factual or legal grounds and offers "bogus" claims. "What Texas is doing in this proceeding is to ask this court to reconsider a mass of baseless claims about problems with the election that have already been considered, and rejected, by this court and other courts," Josh Shapiro, Pennsylvania's Democratic attorney general, wrote in a filing to the nine justices.
Texas filed the long-shot suit against the four election battleground states on Tuesday directly with the Supreme Court. It asked that the voting results in those states be thrown out because of their changes in voting procedures that allowed expanded mail-in voting during the coronavirus pandemic.

"An assault on democracy," CNN's Anderson Cooper calls Trump's attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 Presidential election. "A premeditated assault," Cooper noted, referring to Trump's September 23 speech declaring the election will be a "scam by Democrats" and will wind up before the Supreme Court. CNN political correspondent Abby Phillip says Trump has created a "fairy tale world" for himself and his supporters. Rather than see himself as a "loser," he will continue to insist he won the election. How sad and how pathetic – and how sad and pathetic that a majority of Congressional Republicans went along with him.
Supreme Court rejects Texas' and Trump's bid to overturn election
CNN, Dec 11 2020 7:36 PM ET
The Supreme Court today rejected a bid from Texas' attorney general – supported by President Donald Trump – to block the ballots of millions of voters in battleground states that went in favor of President-elect Joe Biden. The court's order, issued with no public dissents, to dismiss the challenge is the strongest indication yet that Trump has no chance of overturning election results in court and that even the justices whom he placed there have no interest in allowing his desperate legal bids to continue. The Electoral College will convene Monday to affirm Biden's win.

Trump keeps saying the entire election was rigged and fraudulent but the only states where he filed lawsuits were the states that he lost. Isn't that funny.

The demented, deranged, delusional dotard continues to rant and rave about "voter fraud." I will say it again, Donald: There was no fraud! You lost! You are a loser! Deal with it!
Trump lashes out at Supreme Court, Barr as efforts to overturn election fizzle
Reuters, Dec 12 2020 10:02 AM
President Donald Trump lambasted the Supreme Court today for declining to take a case he hoped would overturn President-elect Joe Biden's election victory and called Attorney General William Barr a "disappointment." On Friday evening the nation's high court rejected a long-shot lawsuit by Texas seeking to throw out voting results from four states. The decision comes ahead of a meeting by the Electoral College on Monday to make Biden's victory official.
Trump has refused to concede despite losing to Biden, who took 306 votes to Trump’s 232 in the state-by-state Electoral College, which allots votes to all 50 states and the District of Columbia based on population. Trump wrote on Twitter, "This is a great and disgraceful miscarriage of justice. The people of the United States were cheated, and our Country disgraced. Never even given our day in Court! The Supreme Court had ZERO interest in the merits of the greatest voter fraud ever perpetrated on the United States of America."

Donald Trump, with zero evidence, continues to insist there was widespread "voter fraud." Rudy Giuliani, with zero evidence, says the election was "stolen." Justin Amash, with zero evidence, denounces the "election fraud hoax." Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly, with zero evidence, say the election was "rigged." How sad – and how scary – that they, and millions of others, have sold their souls to the leader of The Cult of Donald Trump and believe all his lies and accusations.
Analysis: The election is over; Trump's attacks will linger
Julie Pace, The Associated Press, Dec 12 2020 10:51 AM
The 2020 Presidential election is over but President Donald Trump's baseless efforts to undermine it, and the consequences of those undemocratic actions, will linger in America for far longer. It is increasingly clear that there is no fact, no piece of evidence and no court ruling that will dissuade Trump from trying to mislead Americans about President-elect Joe Biden’s victory. And Trump has hardly been alone in that effort; numerous Republicans have stood with him or stood by silently, including 126 GOP members of the House who backed a bid to get the Supreme Court to invalidate Biden's victory in four key states. The court emphatically rejected the case Friday night. Trump responded on Twitter, "The Supreme Court really let us down," but he vowed to "fight on!"
The actions of Trump and his allies have exposed a striking reality about America: Many lawmakers in one of the nation's two major political parties are either willing to back efforts to overturn a free and fair election or unwilling to speak out against such a campaign. That lays the predicate for politicians to question the integrity of any election if the results don't go a party or a candidate's way, a dangerous notion that is likely to further erode Americans' trust in government and test the durability of the nation's democratic institutions.

Pro-Trump gatherings took place in several cities tonight. Blindly loyal Trump supporters (including members of the Proud Boys white nationalist group), who believe all of Trump's lies about voter fraud and the election being "stolen" from him, chanted "Four more years!" and "Stop the steal!" Do the math, people: Trump lost the Electoral College 306 to 232 and he lost the popular vote by 7,059,740 votes. He lost. He is a loser. Get over it!

CNN senior political analyst John Avlon rightfully calls Trump a "would-be autocrat." As for the Congressional Republicans who supported Trump's efforts to overturn the results of a free and fair election, Avlon rightfully declares them to be "members of the autocrat caucus," adding that they "surrendered their conscience" and "sold out their country."
The 126 Republicans who signed on for 'an act of cynical, unpatriotic, undemocratic hypocrisy'
John Avlon, CNN, Dec 13 2020 7:30 PM ET
Republicans used to be the party of freedom, the party of President Abraham Lincoln. This week, 126 Republicans in Congress and 18 red state attorneys general decided to repudiate the legacy of Lincoln and freedom by endorsing Texas' ludicrous legal effort to overturn the election results. The good news is that the Supreme Court dismissed the case with no public dissents. The bad news is that a majority of Congressional Republicans chose to support a demagogue over our democracy. They chose to support a case based on false claims and lack of evidence. It should not be forgotten or forgiven.
As conservative columnist Jonah Goldberg wrote with moral clarity in The Dispatch: "It is an act of cynical, unpatriotic, undemocratic hypocrisy unrivaled in American history, a pure power play on behalf of a President whose disregard for the very Constitution these people have long claimed to adore is total. It is shameful. Infuriatingly shameful." History will judge them as cowards and villains. They cannot pretend to be patriots if they're willing to overturn democracy – because they have just repudiated the thing that really makes America great.

The electoral votes were counted today. Joe Biden is now officially the President-elect – and at least one Republican Congressman is choosing to show loyalty to our nation and our Constitution instead of to Donald Trump. Let's hope there will be others who follow his lead.
Congressman cites Trump's efforts to overturn election in announcing decision to quit GOP
CNN, Dec 14 2020 4:53 PM ET
In an exclusive interview, Rep. Paul Mitchell, Republican of Michigan, told CNN that his disgust and disappointment with President Donald Trump's efforts to overturn the results of the election have led him to request that the Clerk of the House change his party affiliation to "independent" and to notify GOP leaders in a letter that he is withdrawing his "engagement and association with the Republican Party at both the national and state level."
"This party has to stand up for democracy first, for our Constitution first, and not political considerations," Mitchell said on CNN's The Lead. "Not to protect a candidate. Not simply for raw political power, and that's what I feel is going on and I've had enough." Mitchell, who is retiring at the end of this session of Congress, says he fears that the House GOP leadership's participation in the outgoing President's conspiracy theories and attempts to disenfranchise millions of American voters to overturn President-elect Joe Biden's victory could cause "long-term harm to our democracy."

Biden after Electoral College affirms win: 'The rule of law, our Constitution and the will of the people prevailed'
CNN, Dec 14 2020 8:26 PM ET
President-elect Joe Biden declared in a speech tonight in Delaware, hours after the Electoral College made his victory over President Donald Trump official, that "the rule of law, our Constitution and the will of the people prevailed" over Trump's efforts to undo the results of the election. "The flame of democracy was lit in this nation a long time ago. And we now know nothing, not even a pandemic or an abuse of power, can extinguish that flame," Biden said.
His harshest words were directed at Trump and his Republican allies – including 17 state attorneys general and 126 members of Congress who backed a baseless Texas lawsuit seeking to undo other states' election results. Biden catalogued the failures of Trump's campaign and his allies in state and federal courts and state legislatures, and recounts that have not substantially changed vote tallies. He called efforts by Trump and his supporters to use the courts to overturn the election result "so extreme we've never seen it before."
