"You're buying body armor and a 100-round ammo magazine and you don't want your parents to know? That's cool with me, bro. Certainly nothing suspicious about that." Sheesh! If this schmuck had reported Betts' purchases to the police, the Dayton massacre might have been prevented.
Prosecutors say Ohio shooter's friend bought him armor
The Associated Press, Aug 12 2019 1:40 PM
A man told federal agents he bought body armor, a gun accessory and a 100-round magazine for the Dayton gunman earlier this year, according to a court document unsealed today. Federal investigators emphasized there no was indication that Ethan Kollie knew that his friend, Connor Betts, was planning a mass shooting or how he would use the equipment. The charging document says Kollie kept the equipment at his apartment so Betts' parents would not find it. Kollie is not accused of intentionally taking part in the planning of the shooting.

This proposed insurance would cover accidental shootings as well as intentional shootings committed by someone with a borrowed or stolen gun. Gunowners who have to buy insurance will probably be more careful with how they handle their guns and will probably be more likely to keep their weapons locked up when not in use. This is one small step for a California city but could be a giant leap for mankind if other cities and states follow suit.

Emperor Trump doesn't see white supremacism as a rising threat, nor do his blindly loyal supporters. Trump went so far as to say many white supremacists and neo-Nazis are "very fine people." Nazmus Sakib, a PhD candidate and political science research assistant at the University of Texas, notes that the majority of domestic mass shootings are committed by white supremacists and are strategic, organized attacks that have much in common with Al Qaeda suicide bombings.
Opinion: White supremacism is the new Al Qaeda. It's time America took it as seriously.

The number of right-wing, white nationalist extremists in the United States is increasing. Many espouse mass shootings, assaults and other forms of violence. Here is one such extremist who was identified and apprehended before he could carry out a massacre:

Breaking news from WCAU-Channel 10:
4 police officers shot in Nicetown
At least four Philadelphia police officers were shot in the city's Nicetown section this afternoon, prompting a massive response to the largely residential North Philadelphia neighborhood. At least one suspect is in custody. Officers continue to search for a possible second gunman.

CNN is reporting that a gunman is still shooting at police during a standoff in Nicetown, Pennsylvania. Six officers have been wounded but none of the injuries is life-threatening. Doesn't the NRA tell us a good guy with a gun always stops a bad guy with a gun? Often, certainly – but not always. In the past week, four Southern California cops were shot by bad guys. Two died and one remains in critical condition.

Officers went to serve a drug warrant and six of them wound up getting shot. All six have been treated and released. Tonight at a press conference, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney called for more gun control legislation to help police keep guns out of the hands of criminals. He said, "If the state and federal government don't want to stand up to the NRA, then let us police ourselves. But they preempt us on all kinds of gun control legislation. Our officers deserve to be protected and don't deserve to be shot at for hours by a guy with an unlimited supply of weapons and an unlimited supply of bullets."

Trump attacks Mexicans, attacks Muslims, pledges to build a border wall, bans visitors from certain countries, restricts legal immigration and calls asylum seekers an "invasion" – and sees absolutely no connection between his hateful, divisive rhetoric and the rise of white nationalist groups and the increase in domestic terror attacks. Welcome to Trumpworld.

He lost his job, he lost his girlfriend, he had a .22-caliber rifle and 400 rounds of ammunition and he wanted to commit a mass shooting. He texted his ex-girlfriend: "A good 100 kills would be nice. I'd wanna break a world record for longest confirmed kill ever." She wisely notified police.

Donald Trump has told more than 12,000 lies since he's been in offoce. When he said he supported universal background checks for gun purchases, we wanted to believe him. We should have known better. Donald Trump, same as all our Republican Congressmen, is an NRA puppet who believes guns are more important than human life.

I wonder if Emperor Trump ever considers the possibility that 40 to 50% of our young people who have been killed in mass shootings might have grown up to become Republicans. No matter. Trump does the NRA's bidding. That means zero restrictions on gun ownership.

CNN is reporting the Texas gunman was a white male in his 30s. He was shot and killed outside a movie theater. Most mass shootings are committed by young, American-born white men – so why do certain politicians keep saying the United States should ban Muslims and Mexicans but they never suggest banning American-born white men?

Elizabeth Warren stated the obvious: "We shouldn't have to live with this near daily fear and horror. We've already lost far too many to gun violence. Congress must act now." Unfortunately, it is also obvious that Congress will do nothing to curb gun violence as long as the NRA-puppet Republicans control the Senate. But, hey, Donald Trump sends his "thoughts and prayers" to the victims. That should make everything okay, right?

Another day, another mass shooting in the United States of America – and the death toll of the latest one is now seven. Three law enforcement officers and a 17-month-old girl are among the 22 injured. The Odessa police chief has not yet identified the gunman but he did say the shooter used an "AR-style weapon." Most mass shooters do. Why are these assault weapons still legal for private citizens to own?
