Federal agents now believe Trump's motive for keeping classified, confidential and top-secret documents at Mar-a-Lago was "largely his ego and a desire to hold on to the materials as trophies or mementos." Trump, according to witnesses, was not planning to leverage, sell or use these documents but he refused to give them up because he believes they are his property. They are not. Parlatore insists his departure is "a personal choice and does not reflect upon the case." Parlatore also insists there is nothing criminal about Trump absconding with more than 300 classified, confidential and top-secret documents and taking them to Mar-a-Lago instead of doing his duty and turning them over to the National Archives.
