"Numerous irregularities," "concerted frauduent activities related to absentee mail ballots" and possible "criminal behavior." Two North Carolina Republicans thought these tactics would give them victories in the midterms. They should have thought of a better plan.

The Republican holds an unofficial 900-vote lead -- but as many as 2,000 absentee ballots may have been destroyed and I'm guessing every one of those votes was for the Democrat.

Lutz, a Democrat, resigned because "things have gotten way out of hand," referring to the investigation into Republican voter fraud. North Carolina has until December 21 to call for a new Congressional election if it is deemed necessary. It's funny, though -- The President has not said a single word about "crooked Republicans."

On November 28 -- Go look! -- I posted a story about a Republican Congressmen, a.k.a. Sore Loser, who lost a close race in Maine and then asked a judge to rule ranked-choice voting unconstitutional and call for a new election. Today a judge rejected the Sore Loser's unconstitutional attempt to void the election.

This headline mentions "losers." Those losers are Republicans. GOP-led legislatures in Wisconsin and Michigan have quickly enacted legislation to weaken the power of incoming Democratic officials and to limit the early voting which usually favors Democrats. Republicans in Arizona, California and Georgia made false accusations of voter fraud. Republican losers used to accept losing. Now they're out for revenge. As one former strategist put it, "Traditional politics has been replaced by holy war."

In 2000 in Florida, the outcome of the November 7 Presidential election was not decided until December 12. In 2018 in North Carolina, amid allegations of the mishandling and/or destruction of absentee ballots, the outcome of this November 6 Congressional election still isn't decided -- and may not be decided until February.

This year, voters in Maine ranked the candidates by preference. This "ranked choice" voting gave a Democrat the victory in the 2nd Congressional District. Naturally his Republican opponent filed a laswuit alleging the voting method was unconstitutional. Of course if the Republican had won, he would have offered high praise for ranked-choice voting. Today the Governor finally certified the election result -- and next to his signature wrote "stolen election." Of course if the Republican had won, the Governor would have offered high praise for ranked-choice voting. The Democrat won the election, Governor. He did not "steal" it. Republicans are such sore losers.

Republicans have not won a statewide election in California since 2010. Last November, Republicans lost eight seats in the state Assembly -- and now, with Brian Maienschein re-registering as a Democrat, they've lost another seat. They now hold 19 seats; Democrats hold 61. Maienschein represents a San Diego-area district that used to be represented by Nathan Fletcher, who left the Republican party in 2012 and became an independent.

One race from the 2018 midterms remains undecided. More than a thousand absentee ballots of Democratic voters in North Carolina were destroyed. Operatives working for Republicans filled in hundreds of other absentee ballots and - Surprise! Surprise! -- voted for the Republican candidate. The hearing into election fraud got underway today.
Worker details alleged ballot fraud in North Carolina election board hearing
CNN, Feb 18 2019 5:46 PM ET
A North Carolina woman testified today that she illegally picked up and falsified absentee ballots in a 2018 congressional election under the direction of a political operative who was working on behalf of the race's Republican candidate. In the first day of the North Carolina State Board of Elections hearing into election irregularities in the 9th District race, Lisa Britt detailed how the operation worked. The race is the last undecided contest from the 2018 midterm election and the North Carolina seat remains open amid allegations of fraud. The state board of elections voted not to certify the results in which Republican Mark Harris, a Baptist minister, led Democrat Dan McCready, a businessman and retired Marine, by 905 votes.

The Republican candidate won by resorting to fraud, ballot tampering and destruction of Democrats' ballots. Now that the results have been thrown out and a new election will be held, let's see if he can win legally.

The results of this North Carolina Congressional race were thrown out because Harris had won by resorting to fraud, ballot tampering and destruction of Democrats' ballots. He said today he will not run in the do-over election -- but his decision was based solely on his health problems and has absolutely nothing to do with the fraud and ballot tampering. Yeah. Uh-huh. Sure.

Dowless became a registered Republican after the 2016 Presidential election. He helped a North Carolina Republican win a House seat in 2018 -- and I think Dowless now understands that his "help" was no help at all. The results were thrown out and a new election will be held. Republicans like to complain about "voter fraud" and "ballot tampering" when Democrats win -- but when a Republican resorts to voter fraud and ballot tampering.......*crickets.*

How about that! And can you guess where the 2020 Republican Convention will be held? Yep -- North Carolina.
