Echostar/Dish does not have enough money to BUY Sirus. Sure, it could be an all stock deal, but Echo/Dish still has to pick up the debt, which it cannot afford to do unless Ergen is paying out of pocket. No plus for Sirius here. The only way that this could help SIRIUS is if the banks decide to defer the debt based on the potential for loosing a large portion of their investment.
ERGEN on the other hand, does have something to gain. Common stock plummets, and theoretically so do the bonds. Ergen could get more of the debt on the cheap this way or even the common, as well as potentially work deals with the banks to get debt at a discount.
I think Ergen has more to gain from the BK leak than Sirius...
