Paul Cotton, vocalist and lead guitarist with Poco from 1970 to 1987 and from 1991 to 2010, died today, August 1. He was 78. His full name was Norman Paul Cotton. He released five solo albums and 20 albums as a member of Poco. He wrote many of the band's hits including Barbados, Bad Weather, Midnight Rain, Under The Gun, Heart Of The Night, Indian Summer, Ride The Country and Days Gone By.
Here is Poco's biggest hit, Crazy Love, from 1979. It was written by Rusty Young, who co-founded Poco in 1968. Young died April 14, 2021 at age 75.

His first single, Once We Loved, was a regional hit in his native Alabama in 1959. He wrote and recorded 9,999,999 Tears in 1966. It was not a hit but a 1976 version by Dickey Lee reached #3 on the country chart.
